malicious fan - No offence meant, I actually thought you were a Utd fan, apologies. It's been a while since I've got involved. Fair play for your comment mate, as I say I wasn't having a dig at United or anything, just Rooney was the first big player to come to mind.
There are 13 clubs in England that support the idea of reintroducing standing at football grounds according to a fan's group.
I think they are thinking of doing a trial of this idea.
The Premier League is opposed to the idea.
These are the clubs that support it:
Aston Villa
Brentford
Bristol City
Burnley
Cardiff City
Crystal Palace
Derby County
Doncaster Rovers
Hull City
Peterborough United
Plymouth Argyle
Watford
AFC Wimbledon

no mate he is quite big well fat anyway! see i can have a dig at him. i always had the impression the press gave him a hard time to be honest some of it justified on and off the field! although i think sum pundits at times make out hes sumthin more then what he is! personally i think the best thing about rooney is his work rate, thats 1 thing i cant fault him for, people might disagree but i think his work rate his second to none, but maybe if he spent more time in opposition half than his own he might get more goals for england!

I think the days of standing Terraces are long gone. British clubs and Britis soccer went to hell and back in the 80's with the various disasters that occurred during that period. I think Taylor's report said at the time (I may be wrong here) that standing pose something of a risk. I guess in hte right grounds it could be reintroduced, but I thnnk they have to worry about how much it would cost them to reconvert the grounds after years of seating.
As for the PFA's idea of netting to protect the players from objects, I would think it is a good idea, but they would have evaluate the Health and Safety grounds for both sides. surely they have to find a way how to release the netting quite quickly in a emergency. And it is about timer there were either plain clothes police officers or stewards in crowds to jump on idiots who do the throwing as soon as possible.

I don't see why anyone would be against bringing safe standing in, I haven't sat down at football since I went to old Trafford about four years ago. We're seeing more and more home fans standing now and every away fan pretty much stands so they might aswell.
I'm proud of our club, who listened to our views on the safe standing (which was 100% in favour of it) and backed the plan. They just need to get it past the suits who know nothing about anything.
