Its confirmed, he is england manager on 4 year contract
Why do we give them 4 years contracts its Stupid I mean a 1 year contract with an option. mean thats all the barca manager gets ok with an international job maybe 2 years till the end of the next world cup
The conference sounded very downbeat from what I heard on 5Live. Maybe they want to down play expectations but I already feel depressed. Interestingly they (the F.A. ) said they only spoke to one club/person which is a bit surprising.
I thought Woy came across pretty well, intelligent and thoughtful answers. Some of it seemed to slightly contradict itself mind, when asked when they spoke to Roy, it was recently, Yet Trevor Brooking was saying he'd enjoyed conversations with Roy over the past few weeks.
Still, I'm pleased and I feel the F.A made the right choice. The press conference today had Dirty 'arry been in charge would have been him cracking wise with the journo's no doubt.
Roy Hodgson does do a lot of work on the technical side so maybe sir trev was asking his opinion they did say they consulted a lot of people in football maybe they consulted him about the other people on the shortlist
Fair point H.P.
I know he had input with the camp in Burton. Either way I think it is a good appointment. He is good manager with international experience as well as club. His attention to detail is brilliant. I look forward to the friendlies against Norway and Belgium,

I agree it's ridiculous to put him on a 4 yr contract, but bearing in mind we start qualifying for Brazil 2014 after the Euros. But also I'm thinking can Hodgson do the impossible and take us even further in europe or in a international competition than Crapello or Eriksson ever did? I think our problem at international level is yes we can qualify for tournaments, but when it comes to the actual competition itself, we either aren't that mentally strong,
or are
we are just too predictable to our opponents? Sonetimes I wish they could find that little bit of extra mental toughness that enables them to be clinical and strong as they were in qualifying and
reproduce it the competition when it matters. i guess there will be many who will question his ability to do the job, but remember how good Switzerland were under him in 1994. His acheivements then were probably way better than probably Switzerland expected.
What do you think guys?
