Well said Eagle Si - The season began Saturday
The international friendly is a joke. It always the same anyway, all the senior players who believe their above the national squad pull out because of some 2 day injury, then they're normally the ones banging the drum of "we're going to win the world cup"
The fact is no one really takes international football that serious any more because there is no money involved. Only once the football season has finished does anyone actually give a shit.
The national team should be like any other English national sport team if they want to be serious contenders. A month before the end of the season the national side should all get together and start training and preparation, get some friendlies going too. Everyone is to focussed on the Premier League or the "Not necessarily Champions" League. Yes club football is your bread and butter, and it's great to win things, but does national pride not mean anything any more ?
