As an Englishman I agree that the players are over hyped but I think the media building a rapport with the national team is a good thing as it hasn't always been this way. Granted former players will always be biased towards their former club but Jermaine Jenas and Tim Sherwood are definitely way too biased when it comes to Tottenham.
I wouldn't mind them having a rapport with the national team I totally get where you are coming from there but the reality is that the relationship is so bipolar they are either the greatest thing ever or the worst
I remember when they failed to qualify for a Euros because Croatia beat them 3-2 at home and everyone lost their tits, the pundits was saying everything was wrong right down to the academy level. Had England one that game they would of qualified or gone through to a play-off and had they then one that they would be in the tournament. The idea that everything all the way down to the youth system was wrong because they lost one match was just hysterical nonsense

Former players are always going to be biased toward there former clubs it’s not really shocking or surprise.
Now listening to Peter Drury and Steve McManaman laughing at Salzburg and how well Liverpool are doing against them. Macca even saying that one of the players looked tired after what was less than 30 mins when he is a professional athlete.
Respect is just not a word in the English footballing dictionary

I'm a Liverpool fan but listening to McManaman tonight (every time he's on for that matter) was embarrassing, he's a commentator, yes there will be a certain amount of bias but come on man show some professionalism. Liverpool got away with that tonight too, throwing away a 3 goal lead, silly stuff in the middle of the pitch with a big cushion, no need for it but fair play to Salzburg, 58 goals in 13 games this season already, fantastic from them
^When Peter Drury called Hwang's goal one that he would want to keep forever it was like he was playing for an semi-pro club in The FA Cup, doesn't matter that we are 3-1 down because we are no hopers. They are the Austrian Bundesliga Champions playing in the champions league, they had more points than Liverpool before the game after they thrashed a Genk side 6-2 that earlier in the day drew with the Napoli team that beat Liverpool a fortnight ago.
Fair play to them, they didn't come to Anfield and try to defend, they played their game and nearly got a result, if Liverpool and Napoli progress from the group they could do a Zeus and go deep in Europa

I agree about Salzburg and the Europa League, if they get there with the way they play and attack they would do some real damage and go far, assuming they get 3rd, they could sneak their way out of the Champions League group too, a proper threat they are
A crazy game for Liverpool, but they won. They can't afford to have too many games like that
Haha probably could be applying to several clubs I would say - where did you find it?
