I agree it's ridiculous to put him on a 4 yr contract, but bearing in mind we start qualifying for Brazil 2014. But also I'm thinking can Hodgson do the impossible and take us even further in europe or in a international competition than Crapello or Eriksson ever did? I think our problem at international level is yes we can qualify for tournaments, but when it comes to the actual competition itself, we either aren't that mentally strong, or are we are just too predictable to our opponents? Sonetimes I wish they could find that little be extra mental toughness that enables them to be clinical and strong as they were in quaifying and reproduce it the competition when it matters. i guess there will be many who will question his ability to do the job, but remember how good Swizetrland were under him in 1994. His acheivements then were probably way better than probably Switzerland expected.
What do you think guys?
I dont think you can blame mental toughness because players like JT, Rooney, Gerrard,Ferdinand,Cole and Lamps have lots of experience on the big stage like Champions league final. i think the problem is we use the same players at every competition, we need to mix it up with fresh young faces as well as the older more experienced.
I wonder who West Brom will get as manager now, I heard Hughton's name being mentioned

or would Mick McCarthy be tempted back?
Problem is quite a few of the most sucessful teams now have players who play in England so they know the english game inside out and how to counteract it. mean the major teams of the last 10-15 years all had major players who earned there living over here such as the French Dutch and spanish
hopefully hodgson who is a master tactician and technican can find a way of getting england team to play a mixture of tactics
Paolo di Canio is 20/1 to replace Roy Hodgson at West Brom, he would be great craic to have in the Premiership, such a character
Harry Redknapp now being linked with the Chelsea job. After what Roberto di Matteo has done for Chelsea in the second half of the second, he should 100% get the job

it always struck me as a lack of heart more than a lack of mental toughness
