You know, I'll stick to my guns, I did run through your list of defenders and rip it apart, and I reckon you do need to improve your defence, a lot. You won't admit it because you're Scouse, but Carragher is definitely not good enough any more to be a starter for you - he needs replacing. Skrtel & Kyrgiakos are nothing special - you could easily buy better. That's where you need at least 2 centre backs. You have no left backs and your main right back is very average - playing for England means jack. Fair play you have a lot of youth players that have a lot of potential, so maybe they can step it up, but if expect to break into the top 4 like all Liverpool fans believe you will, you need to get your defence improved. Admittedly your midfield was the priority, where you have bought ok, but your defence now is gonna hold you back in your optimistic top 4 aspirations.

Jaime Carragher was never given a decent chance with England because Ferdinand & Terry play for who they play for & those two teams are successful in the Premier League & Liverpool aren't the same as now a days when both are fit Micheal Dawson won't get a look in or someone like Roger Johnson won't be given a chance.
Just like Steven Gerrard who at club level there isn't many if any at all better but because Liverpool don't compete for league titles he doesn't get the credit like Lampard & co & because of his versatility he's used by England on the left so Lampard can play centre.
My point being that players who are competing for league titles are always gonna be looked at & given credit over others players who are just as good if not better.
Your opinion on Daniel Agger & Martin Škrtel is as has been said your opinion but it's also a bit diabolical (In my opinion). Agger has had injuries over the past 18 months but so has Rio so whats your point. Yes Škrtel does like a wrestle when defending a corner but considering you say he's a poor man's Vidic well have you seen super Vid try to play against a player with pace...
Your trying to make out like our defence is shit, tell me a team who has the 100% perfect back 4 & subs. We need a first choice left back & over the next year or so depending on the progress of several youngster we may need a centre half.

Well the majority of Liverpool fans feel it is there divine right to be spoken about in the same breath as the top teams in the league because of what you did in the 70s and 80s, and if its not that, you are getting all excited about 'King Kenny' - a king for doing well when? Back in the good old days when Anfield was a fortress.
In complete truth, other than a few players (Reina, Gerrard, Suarez) you have a distinctly average team (Carroll, Adam & Henderson have a lot to prove) and yet you think you are gonna push up the league? If you do, its because of Arsenal regressing rather than you improving that much.

I'm surprised about what you say about Stevie G, I honestly feel like he gets a lot credit (justifiable credit at that) for carrying your team whenever they need the push, and the fact he plays on the left is more a testament to Lampard lack of versitility and the fact that Gerrard is much much better than Fat Frank.
Theres no need to go into an Agger vs Rio debate, there's a clear win, and he lives in Manchester. Fair play, Vidic isn't perfect, but he gets into a lot of peoples' team of the season for the last few years, or at least mentioned in its discussion, Skrtel will never be...ever. Nor will any of your defence, so again if you wanna compare the 2, Vidic will win every single time!
As I have said in this same post, fair enough, you have youth that can come in, but if you have hopes of breaking into the top 4, your defence will be the part now that holds you back (that and Arsenal regressing if they sell will help your cause!)
