It does seem strange forking out a fortune on an unproven youngster. I suppose potential sell on value enters the equation. WestHam paid around 10million for Payet who had the most assist and chances created in all leagues last year. The fact that he is 29 probably resulted in him being offloaded so cheaply. I know the bigger teams will probably come and unsettle him In either the January or next summer transfer window, thus force us to sell him at a tidy profit but he really is a steal.
It's not just football where unproven youngsters are over priced. I remember the falcons a few years back paid a rookie quarterback more money than the patriots paid Brady who at the time had won 3 superbowls. Have these great sporting organisations learnt nothing off moneyball?

Your also right about how 36mill should be enough to get a older striker but these clubs price their star names at stupid amounts, look at Muller 36 in theory should do it for him but then u hear silly amounts being talked about
Hernandez just didn't fit in to our game. Januzaj is on loan for a season. Martial is very fast and will hopefully give us pace that has been lacking. United have a history of buying young players and while 36 million is a lot in today's market you have to spend big. De Bruyne just cost City a fortune yet is fairly unproven and didn't do anything of note when in the premier last time round and how much did they pay for Stirling. A player of potential but still has to prove it. Martial has just made the French national squad and is being compared to Henry.Time will tell on that.
Yeah de bruyne is a risk but he is there as silva's long term replacement and is backed up by a wealth of riches in terms of players in the midfield if it should go wrong. De bruyen also got champions league experience. Oh De Bruyen didnt do much at chelesa he only had 3 games and Rafa Benetiz was the manager so that explains that
with Martial im guessing he will be playing straight from the off if it doesnt go well no backup plan only hope is that him playing up front can get rooney into his natural postion as a no 10 behind main striker so u get the best out of rooney
After West Brom turned down a fourth offer from Spurs for Berahino.
He tweeted that won't play for West Brom again
Out of order
I saw him saying he would never play again With Peace as Chairman. He seems to be like Macilroy in the sense he does not seem to realise that contracts are supposed to protect both parties. If he carrys out his threat Peace could sue Him for breech of contract. I just cant get over how naive young sportsmen are these days.
Berahino is just frustrated that his saying anything that comes to his mind, all will be resolved he starts playing again till jan
When Berahino has time to think it through. He'll probably say that he'll play for the West Brom fans and not for the chairman.
Not gonna waste my breath on arsenal, all I will say is if we finish same position again and no closer to the top Wenger please do the right thing
