It looks like Fergie will be giving interviews on Match of The Day again.
I prefered it when Micky Phelan used to have to give them... It was like getting blood out of a stone.

Arsenal are in pot 1 because they have a high UEFA coefficient ranking, through consistently getting into the later stages of the tournament. Domestic league performance has nothing to do with it. Dortmund might be the German champions, but they've done almost nothing in European competitions in recent times, so they're ranked 64th, below teams like Bolton and Aston Villa. Here's the list, if anyone's interested:

While I'm here, how about people giving Arsenal some credit for getting through last night? It seems like everyone was queuing up to write their obituary after recent games, yet they were never actually behind in the tie against the most difficult opponents they could have faced, based on the seedings. So, well done Arsenal, and best of luck in the competition proper, which they have now played in for 14 seasons in a row

brillaint, there's something missing from the little list is'nt there ? not your fault your just not good enough i guess.
so a team that finishes 4TH in the premier league gets into the TOP 8 in europe ? the system is flawed big time.

You obviously didn't read my post did you? If you can name eight teams who have CONSISTENTLY done better than Arsenal over the last FIVE years then be my guest. I'll give you Barcelona, Chelsea and your lot for starters.
PS I wonder if I'm the only one who thinks your avatar/user title combination is just a tad offensive?
eagle_si - just to say thank you for beating the absolute scum of football that is creepy cr****y the other night. I fist pumped that result.
Our red and blue army beat the pikeys if you didn't know
Money_Shot - are you a Palace fan? Why did I think you were a Liverpool fan?
Interesting Champions League draw, United are through already, Bayern vs City will be 2 very interesting games, Chelsea vs Valencia will be fun for Mata and Arsenal's group is pretty good for them. Interesting to see the Barcelona vs Milan matches as well as the Group D matches!

Big Sham was gracious in defeat as always, fat wanker! Hope he gets the sack!
This made me chuckle, I just know you had an angry face & pure hatred in your finger tips while writing this.
Whoever said groups D & E are tough but the rest are easy must have smoked a lot of shit today!!!
Groupe A, D, E, F & G are very hard groups, Inter aren't that great a team so this will be a pretty tough group Barca, Milan & Utd have come out of it well.
On the seeding thing, I could be wrong but I think when Liverpool won it we were ranked the best team in Europe but as champions still had to qualify from the first round
because we finished 5th & the champions didn't get automatic qualification for the following season. The UEFA & Fifa rankings are fuckin silly, Holland 1st (Spain lost
1 game) & us 4th (We drew 2 games), errr don't think so!!!
