There have been 10 others that happened so soon or even sooner. The record is held jointly by Kenny Dalglish (Newcastle) and Paul Sturrock (Southampton) who were both dismissed after only 2 matches of the season.
VAR IS broke
The decisions made by VAR is going to cost teams dear at the end of the season. Surely the offside in Liverpool derby was a shocker.
There's a large number of Leicester fans calling for Brendon Rodgers to be removed after their defeat today, leaving them with just 1 point in 6 matches.
VAR has certainly had a high profile weekend and not for positive reasons.
The principle of VAR does not seem to be at fault. It is human error in terms of how it is being used.
Human error of decision making was presumably the reason for VAR being introduced in the first place.
It seems however we now have a situation where some incidents in matches that should be subject to VAR checks are not being checked. Meanwhile VAR operatives at Stockley Park are incorrectly questioning on field referee decisions that are not clear and obvious errors.
The problems that people might have hoped VAR would solve remain albeit through different means.
It's getting somewhat farcical.
There's two managers on the brink this weekend.
Ralph at Southampton and Brendon at Leicester City.
Leicester have been making enquiries about Brentford manager Thomas Frank.
So my lot at Wolves have sacked Bruno Lage.
My general feelings about this are mixed.
Quality of players brought in during the summer was fine.
Quantity rather less so. A situation where there is a lack of defensive cover has been created by letting so many players in that area go.
The efforts to bring in a focal point striker got scuppered within one half of football as Sasa Kalajdzic did his ACL and is out for months.
Jimenez and Neto also injured and Costa not match fit.
I cannot seriously sit here and try to claim all of that is exclusively the fault of Lage.
The midfield now looks ok where as last season it looked weak.
The goal output though is beyond woeful across the team.
The record towards the end of last season combined with the start of this makes grim reading and many would say 'Well the stats don't lie'.
I just can't help feeling this is one of those situations where you can't blame the manager without blaming the board and vice versa.
Trouble is though Jeff Shi is not going to sack himself and Fosun are not going to sack themselves either.
Hmmmm.
I wonder if Hwag is fed up with Ronaldo's attitude and after what happened last night I certainly do think Ronaldo will be on the move again. and of course this raises the phrase "No player is bigger than the club" as usual. I certainly now wonder if Ronaldo will actually figure in Qatar for Portugal as I wonder if Ronaldo has had enough game time to pick him.
As VAR arrives to the Scottish premiership, what was your first experience of a game after VAR was introduced?
