So even Lolly Badcock should be worth a few quid..
As if we didn't need any reminder of the crucial matches taking place in tomorrow's final Premier League matchday of the season, here they are
-
Villa Park - Aston Villa v Liverpool
Liverpool need to win and also need Spurs to slip to secure European football for next season.
White Hart Lane - Tottenham v Birmingham
Spurs can guarantee European football with a win, Blues desperately need the win to avoid the drop.
Britannia Stadium - Stoke v Wigan
Wigan have to win and need other teams elsewhere to lose to avoid the drop. I'm sure their eyes and ears will be fixed on events at Molineux, Old Trafford and White Hart Lane. They'll also be hoping Stoke's eyes are already fixed on the beach.
Old Trafford - Manchester United v Blackpool
Ian Holloway takes his underdogs to the champions for one last stand. Whichever United team takes the field, I can see plenty of goals in this one.
Molineux - Wolves v Blackburn
I'll be here, chewing my fingernails to the nub as usual. Just one more strong performance will guarantee our Premier League safety. Anything less, and a collection of catastrophic results elsewhere could yet relegate both Wolves and Blackburn. Fingers crossed.
So guys and gals, on the eve of the battles for Premier League safety and Europa League qualification, would just like to say - may the best teams win. Its going to be tense, its going to be anxious, its going to be emotional and its going to hurt. When the dust has settled, and its all over by 6 o clock tomorrow evening though, hopefully the Beautiful Game will remain the biggest winner.
Fuck the best teams winning ,I just hope Wolves win..
Picture the scene. 3 of the four relegation games are over. One match remains and in the last minute of stoppage time a penalty is awarded. If it goes in it could have a dramatic effect on the fate of 2 or maybe more teams. The populations of various stadiums all hold their breath and........ oh dear its all too much, I am off to hide in the cupboard until its all over. The end of the world did not happen at 6pm on the 21st May 2011. It has been delayed pending the result of a certain relegation battle that might truly feel like the end of the world - well for a few months at least
. Lets hope it fails to materialize just like the initially forecasted one did.
Much as it pains me to say it I'm afraid it looks like Championship football next season for Blues.I can see wigan getting a draw at Stoke tomorrow and maybe even Blackpool drawing against Man U reserves, but the only thing I see for Blues at Tottenham is a good hiding.
Having seen the gutless surrender against Fulham last week when they had chance to sign off at home with a win to secure safety and seal a trophy winning season. That cup win could turn out to be a curse after winning only 2 of 11 league games since.
Fair play to Wolves,Wigan,Blackpool and even Blackburn, they may not have always got the results but at least they have shown some fight and passion and spirit, all commodiities sadly lacking in Blues last weekend and truth to tell for several weeks now.
What should have been a memorable season now seems destined to end in relegation.oh the joys of being a Blues fan, and questions being asked about McCleish and his negative tactics.
Having said all that I renewed my season ticket this morning in hope of a miraculous transformation (strange how football makes you lose all reason)
Well it's Shitting Sunday for those involved in the FA Premier League relegation battle...
