I agree to a point that we won't make top 5 this season, but to say what we were lucky last season is frankly stupid and I'm actually getting fed up of that being said all the time
Yes we won some matches last season with a bit of luck such as away to Blackburn or when we got that point away to Man United, but you don't get lucky after 38 games in a season. Its mainly down to hard work, team work and good team spirit to do what we did last season.
I'm sick of this notion every time clubs like mine do a good season, everyone says its lucky, its fucking ignorant.
On the game today though, we are being slaughtered at the moment by Man United, we are second best so far and made an awful start to the game.
I heartily agree dan it can be nauseating to hear people say that you were lucky last season and I think Alan Pardew has got you playing the sort of football that wins games.

As a Man United fan I'm obviously pleased with our performance and win today but I have to say that you have a good team and deserved the praise for last season-it was no fluke. This season may well end up being a bit tougher but it's still early season yet. I would still expect Newcastle to be challenging for a Europa place come the end of the season if they can beef up the midfield slightly.
its an insult? its an insult when your players look dis-interested, last season you looked hungry and up for games... this season no way lack of team spirit imo
You should try been a little club like us and have a set of fans tell us how shit we are and how they should of stayed up cause they're a better team and such a big club

Of course I find it rather insulting and also ignorant to say we were been lucky last season.
Your a Liverpool fan right. Remember the season when Liverpool finished second in the table a few years ago, how would you feel if I said they were lucky that season and it was a fluke?
Of course its not true, as Liverpool deserved to finish were they did that season and were very good that season, although like every team does every season there were 2 or 3 games they were lucky to get a point. But it would piss you off wouldn't it and other Liverpool fans if I said that season was a fluke? The table never lies.
Of course I agree with you that players like Cabaye and Cisse are not playing to the level they did last season. I still believe we have a good team spirit at the club and hopefully against Sunderland we get our season back on track.

Not really - a 3-0 loss to United doesn't really prove anything. Lots of teams will get well beaten to United. The third goal from Cleverley was one of those where you can't do anything, just too good.
Everyone's only played 7 games and it's only October. Nothing's decided until late April and everyone's played 34-35 games. Just seems too early to pass judgment on a team's fortunes thats all.
Every team will get beat by united if howrd webbs in charge
Almost every player dives, ppl just like to jump on the suarez bandwagon, so what if he dived... Big deal, hes still one of the best players in the world
Blackburn Rovers have a few famous ex footballers applying for the vacant managers job..
Alan Shearer, and the former Manchester United pair of Roy Keane and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been linked with the Ewood post along with the former Real Madrid manager, Bernd Schuster.
yeah the venkys have a great choice just hope they dont fuck it up for the sake of a few quid
