With Gerrard and Meireles probably out through injury, Suarez ineligible, Carroll still a few weeks away and the fringe players lacking in confidence, bringing in the youngsters is a good thing. Even if they dont play, it will be great experience for them and aid in their eventual transition into the first team. Having watched the whole 90 mins of the 9-0 youth cup game via sky plus, the 4 players were the better players on the night. Suso has huge potential too, so it fills the fans with optimism looking at the next wave of future stars.
Sterling was awesome the other night and its good to know that he turned down Manure and Arsenal to sign for us. Great composure in front of goal and he plays with no fear. Throw in pace and dribbling skills and you have a future Liverpool star. Some of his goals were amazing and even Messi would have been proud of some of his strikes.
The squad has been announced and indeed the 4 young lads are in it. Raul Meireles and Joe Cole are fit to travel also but Stevie misses out. Andy Carroll also travels with the squad though he wont feature.

Just read an article which surprised the hell outta me for second as i hadnt thought of it, but is obviously true as we were banned from Europe at the time. Tomorrow nights game will be Kenny's FIRST EVER game in charge of LFC in Europe. Special night for The King
Terrible game of footy tonight!! We should absolutely annihilate that lot at Anfield next week
Yeah, but WE'LL need to turn up & play aswell
Minor detail Mitchell mate
WHAT!? why can't Suarez play in the Europa league? He didn't play for Ajax, only in the Champions league!
in Other news, Andy Carroll may make a surprise appearance earlier than expected against West Ham this week.
I think if he is close to full fitness 10 minutes at the end would be good for him.
Also: "Bizarrely, Kenny Dalglish and Andy Carroll were spotted together at the Liverpool Echo Arena last night watching 90′s boyband Boyzone" - LOL
^because if a team finishing 3rd in the group stages enter the europa league, where as a player playing the europa league can play for a team in the champions league. yet torres can play for chelsea tonight because liverpool arent able to play the champions league this season but by ajax finishing 3rd in their group can play in the europa league. its ufea being dickheads.
i say its time that the europa league should be only for teams that qualified for it through league places or winning their national cup and not for knocked out champions league teams which is why its devalued.
I know I've said this before but having just seen todays press conference with Kenny I've gotta say the I love the guy, so much so I'd even take him to a Boyzone concert & sing Love Me For A Reason to him....
I don't love you for funnn Kenny
John W Henry should let you be the ooone Kenny
We Love you For a Reeeason
Let the reason be... Successss Kenny.... Errr ok so that last bit might not rhyme but hey.
Scrappy performance but we got there in the end. There were some bright moments. Martin Kelly was immense in the first half and hopefully his injury is only a minor knock. Great to see Joe Cole getting 90 minutes....he was blowing hard there towards the end!!!
David Ngog
Cristian Poulsen
Poor performance but at least we got the result. I usually defend Ngog but he was brutal tonight, didn't even work hard which usually keeps him in my good graces. Poulsen was terrible also. He's come along under Kenny but a 46% pass completion rate in the 1st half...shocking. Yard too slow mentally and physically.
Starting to worry for Pacheco's future at the club. Still hasn't featured under Kenny and even had we not had to take Agger off late on, I doubt we would have seen him. I'd be devastated to see him go, offers something different. Kuyt for all his great work, has no guile while Maxi and Cole are very similar, technically good but slow.
I want to say that the performance is more evidence that the squad is severly lacking depth but I have to remind myself that we were missing Gerrard, Suarez, Carroll and Johnson. Can't wait to see how we line out with everyone fit.
