Now that Henry guy has come out and said that, think we should just move on and pursue other targets that's if there is any left, doubt we would agree anything with that owner

Quote:Agger named Reds' new vice-captain

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has today revealed that centre-back Daniel Agger has been appointed as the club's new vice-captain.
The Danish defender replaces Jamie Carragher in the role following the 35-year-old's retirement at the conclusion of the 2012-13 campaign.

Rodgers revealed in July that he was considering a number of candidates for the position and he confirmed the decision to appoint Agger before the Reds departed for Dublin on Friday.

Rodgers told LFC TV: "The job of the captain and vice-captain here at Liverpool is very, very important.

"I wanted to give myself time over the course of the pre-season to assess a number of the players and obviously Daniel was one of them.

"His loyalty and his passion for Liverpool is second to none. And if you add that on to his footballing qualities, then I think it's a good choice for everybody."

The 28-year-old joined the club in January 2006 from Brondby and has since made a total of 209 appearances in Liverpool colours, scoring 12 goals.

Agger played in the 2007 Champions League final and collected his first major trophy at Anfield when the Reds won the 2011-12 League Cup at Wembley.

The Denmark skipper signed a new long-term contract with the Reds in October 2012 and played 35 league matches last season - his highest since joining the club.

Quote:Liverpool and England ace Sterling pleads not guilty following ARREST for alleged assault of model girlfriend

Raheem Sterling will stand trial in September for assaulting his girlfriend Shana Halliday after he pleaded not guilty to the charge following his arrest on Thursday night.
The Liverpool winger appeared at the city's magistrates court on Friday to answer the charge against the 19-year-old model after he was arrested at 10.30pm in Page Moss, Merseyside.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: ‘Raheem Sterling, 18, of Woolton, was charged with Section 39 common assault. Sterling was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court today.’

It is believed the couple had earlier been celebrating her 20th birthday with a meal out and a row is understood to have taken place afterwards.
The hour before Sterling was arrested he took to Twitter, writing: 'This food is getting dealt with', followed by pictures of knife and fork, chicken leg and ice cream.
Sterling is due to travel with Liverpool to Dublin on Friday for Saturday's friendly against Celtic at the Arriva Stadium.
A Liverpool spokesperson said: 'Raheem has denied the charges and as the case is ongoing, we will not be making any further comment at this time.'
The Criminal Justice Act 1988 explains the charge, a section 39, could lead to imprisonment should Sterling be found guilty.
It reads: 'Common assault and battery shall be summary offences and a person guilty of either of them shall be liable to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or to both.'
The alleged victim, who works as a sales assistant at clothing label Hollister, won Miss United Kingdom earlier this year before competing for the world title in March.

Sterling, who was part of the England Under 21 squad announcement on Thursday, enjoyed a breakthrough for Brendan Rodgers' side in 2012, but tailed off as the season progressed as he adapted to the rigors of top flight football.
The winger, who lives in the leafy Liverpool suburb of Woolton, has been dating the beauty pageant finalist for nearly three years since he joined the club in 2010.

Speaking last month about the challenges he has faced, the 18-year-old, who was born in Jamaica and raised in London, said he was ready to put the dip behind him and push on.
'I didn’t think so at the time, but the break I had probably did me good,' he told the Liverpool Echo. 'You want to play as many games as you can but mentally as well as physically I probably needed a rest.
'At the time there were a few things going on off the field. That time I spent out means I’m raring to go for the new season.
'Now it’s up to me. I need to kick-on and prove I really did deserve those call-ups; that it wasn’t just a fluke. I have a lot to prove this season.'
thats a load of rubbish..
Wouldn't surprise me if the Sterling story is true. Just because he's a footballer, don't mean we shouldn't believe it. He's a young hot head, who has more money than brains (like most players)
Looking at the Suarez story as an Liverpool outsider I would say playing just Premiership football isn't enough for Suarez. I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers didn't pick for first team once he completes his ban, but on the flip he maybe banned playing in UK for a few more games but the ban wouldn't affect him playing abroad. What he does need to realise is that his crazy antics are ruining his gifts as a footballer.

The ban would affect him as all members of UEFA have to uphold bans given by other UEFA members like how Joey Barton had to serve his ban in France last season .
Downing is poor, hope we sell him to west ham, takes far too long on the ball and doesn't produce, he runs to the line then tries to cut back every single time even when there are 3 or 4 options.
