I'm no dope mate. You and thousands more up and down the country are tearing into my club, it's greatest ever player, manager and our new number 7.

I'll defend them, if it's ok with you.

With Liverpool fast becoming a toxic brand I feel they simply had to make their view known. Whether the forced apologies will do enough the stem the tide though and salvage Liverpool's reputation remains to be seen.

So Standard Chartered are a bank?!!: Since when has a bank been able to take the morale high ground with anyone!!! BounceBounceBig LaughBig LaughBig Laugh

My point is more to do with the greed that has seen our game slowly decay for decades now. $ky are whoring our national sport and these money men, banks and other global sponsors all want a say in how OUR game is run and what people should and shouldn't do!

Are Nike/Adidas/UMBRO etc still fleecing 3rd world countries and giving them minimum wage to make the football shirts that get sold to supporters globally for extortionate amounts of money. Then they have the nerve to say there "brand" is being damaged!!! annoyed

Sponsors lining the pockets of their fat cunt directors, when if they could share their bonus's with the poor they'd probably feed, clothe and house the homeless in the U.K several times over!

Sorry I'm going off topic and getting slightly political now, I am not a Liverpool fan, none of family are from there or support them, but I do have a bit of sympathy for a club being ripped to shreds.

My gripe is probably more with the newspapers and the sponsors in football. Morales in football have all but died, players rarely honour contracts, demand huge wages, clubs are mostly run by businessmen looking to get rich whilst fleecing loyal supporters. $ky$ports make a mint out of us and sell their product globally. I just find it so hypocritical that anyone , especially the banks and the newspapers can take any sort of high ground in situations like these!
groundnpound quality down to the ground that mate I've been wanting to say it for the last 2 days but couldn't be arsed. I started my last post on the handshake with "I know all the none Reds will be in here after this" but decided to change it as it would have been an invitation yet here they came one by one.
I didn't even bother replying as most of it was silly. Yeah it was their opinion but some of them think Liverpool FC has been tarnished forever amongst other tags.

They seem to forget that Luis Suarez will at some point leave the club (Next 3 years I'd say) & then someone else will come in possibly for a big fee & life will go on. As for if we sell Luis in the summer we'll struggle to get a big fee for him as no one will want his services. Errr if we sell him tomorrow there'll be atleast 5 of Europes biggest clubs ready to pay upto £30m for one of the best footballers in the world.

If Evra didn't grab at Suarez & look straight down the camera like he'd already planed something then none of this shit would have happened just like it didn't after the chelsea handshake!!!

Where's all the Utd band wagon or are they keeping quiet due to this???

Maybe that's true, but why did Liverpool make it so easy for the media to blow the story out of all proportion? A line could have been drawn under this story weeks ago, but Dalglish had to keep the story going with the daft Suarez support shirts and then his comments to the media last week that Suarez shouldn't have banned, all convincing Suarez that he was bigger than the club and leading to last weekend's PR disaster. If Dalglish had used a bit of common sense and drawn a line under this story weeks ago, the owners wouldn't now be ordering apologies and jetting in to issue warnings and the sponsors wouldn't be weighing in with their opinions either, all contributing to the media frenzy. When the owners arrive this week expect them to give Dalglish some lessons on how to run a football/sports club and in particular how not to engage in PR disasters and how not to create a media frenzy. You said yourself that the media are desperate for headlines, which is all the more reason for Dalglish to stop acting the fool and giving them headlines.
i tend to agree with the above post. liverpool and dalglish handled the situation poorly but so fuck if he didn't shake hands. the hypocrisy of ferguson knows now bounds!

Yes Money_Shot, that's exactly the point, when a bank starts weighing in to something on moral grounds you know you have a serious problem.

the two clubs had behaved responsibly and had been attempting reconciliation in the buildup to the game and both had promised the handshake would take place. the idea was for the two parties to draw a line under the incident with a public show of closure to the episode and to get back to what it is supposed to be about that being a game of football but it appears that Luis Suarez thinks he is bigger than Liverpool football club and even bigger than football itself
How many more words of over the top shit are you all gonna type??? Luis Suarez hasn't raped a female or got drunk & killed anyone with his car, he simply got involved in a few words of which we'll never know the full truth unless one or both men do a Carlos Tevez style interview, he served his punishment & is now free to get on with his job.

As for the handshake, if it was that mighty then the westen armed forces & the Taliban & not to mention all manner of the Syrian population would be doing it so calm the fuck down!!!

Of course mitchell is right and makes a perfectly valid point, that the media storm around Suarez is overblown and any sense of proportion has been lost completely. However, it's also fair to point out that Liverpool themselves deliberately cranked the story up and fanned the flames of the fire with the daft Suarez support shirts and the comments to the media even as recently as last week that Suarez shouldn't have banned. Liverpool's own conduct in feeding the media and deliberately keeping the story on the go inevitably put focus on the handshake or non-handshake and made it into a really big deal. Liverpool should have drawn a line under this story some time ago, and if they had then the whole issue of the non-handshake wouldn't have mattered that much. There would still have been a story about it but not a huge one.
