Don't think you should sell Carroll but if you signed Dempsey I reckon he could be the difference between Champions League & Europa League football for Liverpool next season
Very harsh, and a bit arrogant, to suggest Liverpool are only interested in him because he's American
I think if Liverpool signed Dempsey, it would be a good signing. He knows where the net is thats for sure, but the thing is, I never understood where his best position, because a lot time last season for Fulham, he seemed to play in many different positions, but he did well when asked to be those positions, maybe he's one of those versatile players, which is good to have one of those type of players in your squad
If we end up signing Clint Dempsey for no more that £6m I'd be happy with that, he's an £8m to £10m player without the contract situation.
I ment cheap as in low priced, Dempsey has scored 8, 9, 13, 23 goals in the last 4 seasons for Fulham 23 last season, I doubt Eden Hazard will score 23 for Chelsea & he cost about £25m-£30m. So max £6m for a player who's still got a good 3 to 4 years left unless he does a Paul Scholes is good business.
Someone said Rodgers style will give Carroll untold crosses, his style is a short passing style with penetrative players like Luis Suárez, yes Carroll is decent with his feet & could still learn a lot but in the long run he's not the type of player who's gonna be used so that's why we're trying to cash in now after he did well at the end of last season & in the Euros. Give him till January, he's made 13 appearences, 6 starts scored 4 goals & only fetching bids of £8m, which is quite obviously a massive loss for us.
I said at the time we shot ourselves in the foot with the price & that's now become evident.
That's the thing with us Liverpool fans we become too clingy very quick. Yes Andy Carroll is a decent prospect but look at the bigger picture, he just doesn't fit the longterm plan of a manager who aim to be our boss for many years to come. We all want him to play & score but the bigger picture is more attractive than that of Andy Carroll scoring 12 goals next season.
If we get rid of carroll does that mean we need to buy a new striker for cover?
Obviously not being a Liverpool fan I understand my opinion might be frowned upon, but isn't it being a bit naive of Rodgers to be shipping out Carroll so soon.
Carroll has stated he wants to stay and he is willing to fight for his place. His place is no longer in the team because of the way Rodgers like his teams to play football, but as we found out last season with Barcelona VS Chelsea, every team needs a Plan B. I think Carroll could be the Plan B for Rodgers and would offer a decent alternative outlet.

Not "only" because he's American, but guarantee it's one of the reasons mate. Were making a big push to raise our profile over there and attract as many fans as possible. We're filming a documentary just now of our US tour to air on Fox Sports later in the year and i bet FSG would love their country's top boy to sign during filming. It's a smart move. Dempsey in a Liverpool shirt could make the club a fortune.
Hope he can do the business on the pitch!
Dempsey's a quality player - him scoring 17 goals last season was no fluke.
Wouldn't mind seeing him at Anfield but only if we can get him for a reasonable price.

Dempsey got 20 for Fulham last season, 3 for USA.
We're losing a unique player if we let Carroll go. The 35 million looked huge at the time but under the guidance of a top manager he would improve his all round game and become a brilliant striker for me, going on to justify his pricetag. We all want to be successful again and it's about Liverpool not Carroll but in my opinion the fella could do a proper job for us and be a real asset.
The clingy statement.... Speak for yourself lad! I'll get behind any player wearing a reds jersey from day 1 but for me to take someone to heart they need to earn it. Stevie and Carra have earned it. Pepe has earned it. Lucas, Suarez and after the semi final and final of the FA Cup big Andy Carroll has earned it. That's it from our entire squad just now. So saying we're being clingy with Carroll is wrong in my book. The lad made himself a hero at the back end of last season and i'll be gutted if (when it seems like now) he goes.
£10 mil is probably 2 too much but he's a good goal scorer and sombody who can get those extra one's we've needed for a couple of years , personally I've thought we should sign him for a few years now.
