Yeah I'd rather we said.
Look Raul this is all a bit late & you should've known we can't bring in a replacement of your quality this late in the day so here's the deal. A lot of people aren't gonna be happy at this shady move you've tried to pull but fortunately for you your at a club with fans who'll back you to the high heavens if you play the way you have since you came to the club, so the next time you get on the field after your injury carry on as you left off & in the summer if you still feel the same then we'll tell Chelsea your valuation (£20M+) & we'll take it from there.
If he still said he wanted to leave yesterday then the sum Chelsea had to pay was £25m & if they refused then it's a Noel Edmonds 'No deal' thats pretty simple & keeping a player who no longer wants to play for you will still have to go out & play for his own career to make himself buyable to any interested clubs (Chelsea).
Think Pepe Reina would be a great captain but there are those who dont like to have a GK for a skipper. In that case i think Charlie Adam, Lucas or even Luis Suarez would make good captains.
Once he gets settled into the team right or centre back & gets more confortable with his roll then Martin Kelly may become more vocal & get the armband??? The same could be said of Jay Spearing who'll now get more chances after the departures of Aquilani & the other one, he'll also be the replacment for Lucas if he gets injured, Jay's game is based on the same style as Javier Mascherano, he's a little terror.
Pep's the third choice but personally I think your captain should be an outfield player.
Carra's got 2 to 3 years left & Gerrard's still only 31. Calm down calm down
Yeah Reina,Suarez or Adam i'd pick as captain after Stevie and Carra.Long term i'd say Coady could be a Liverpool skipper.
Can't wait for Stevie to get back, best midfielder in the league imo.If he comes back on top form we'll all be dancin lads!
Bill Shankly will be raising a glass somewhere today, 98 years after he was born.
“For a player to be good enough to play for Liverpool, he must be prepared to run through a brick wall for me then come out fighting on the other side.”
Raul's transfer took a little of the gloss off of our dealings this window which otherwise were pretty superb. Some of the players we've signed mightn't have been the players I'd have gone after but there's no doubt we're far stronger than before. Key positions of LB and LW were sorted, bolstered midfield plus back up for GK,CB and Suarez (whatever ya wanna call his position). Getting the likes of Jovanovic, Poulsen, Konchesky, Degen, El Zhar, some of Cole
and to a lesser extent, Aquilani off the wage bill is great stuff even if there were little or no fees involved.
Regarding Meireles, by all accounts he seemed to be very happy at the club but I think he was fairly put out that he never got a wage increase after his successful first season, which had been promised to him, under the previous regime it should be noted. Again, like Torres, the way he went about it was the most disappointing bit. Whether he really pushed for the transfer, or the request was just to waive loyalty fees, I'm sure he signalled his desire to leave well before the announcement of a transfer request was made but it was still way too late in the window. Our players going to Chelsea is bad enough, but doing it on the last day of the window is the bit that lets you down the most.
After the Aquilani/Meireles debate that raged all summer I'm fairly gutted both of them ended up leaving. I think having one of them would have been really useful this season, their experience and creativity could have been invaluable. We're light at DM as well, I just don't think Spearing has the quality to be a 2nd choice DM in a team fighting for Top 4 and eventually higher. Be interesting to see whether Coady is tried out there at any stage.
Some part of me always has to pull the negatives out of everything but fuck it, we're playing well, got Gerrard to come back and Carroll still has to hit some bit of form, Happy fuckin' Days!
We had no chance keeping him once Chelski came in for him financially they would have looked after him.
I hope we do some business in january Lucas still is not for me I know he has got better than he was but I still don't rate him but I know lots of people do. I reckon kenny needs to make 2 world class mid filed buys in January to help us kick on.
I dunno what Lucas has to do to impress some people. He was voted our player of the season last year and we look a poorer team without him in it (just look at the pre season how we leaked goals for fun). He started this season as he left off last season. Against Bolton he was outstanding. Suarez got MOTM but Lucas ran the show, breaking up everything that came near him and starting attacks. Just because he doesnt crease into bone-crunching tackles doesnt make him "not good enough" to play in the DM position. Oh yeah, he's also Brazil's first choice DM. It's time Lucas Leiva was appreciated by everyone because he simply doesnt get the credit he deserves.
The fact that he is dm for brazil is not a big deal they simply need a dm none of there other midfield players want to play dm do they
each to there own tho mate.
