The funny thing is in any other season Liverpool's point tally with 3 games left to play at 88 points in any other season is enough to win the League & even if we win the 3 remaining games taking us to 97 points could still not be enough to win it if Man City win their 4 remaining games. But what makes the Premiership by far the best league in the world is it's unpredictability where teams at the bottom end of the league are more than capable of pulling off shock results against the teams at the top.And also I think we are at the stage of the season where teams struggling in the relegation dogfight will be tougher to play because they are fighting for survival scrapping for every point compared to teams in the upper half of the table who are virtually safe.

I'm realistic enough to know that at this current stage this season's title is City's to lose they are in the driving seat but a slip up in either of their games against Man Utd, Burnley,Leicester or Brighton we need to be able to capitalize on it.But whatever happens regarding the title & Champions League outcome I hope it puts us in a position with Klopp as manager as being a potential club the big name players want to play for.
As I see it IF City lose or draw then Liverpool need to win all their remaining games and keep the pressure on City. If City win it will be a case of who blinks first - not sure my blood pressure would be able to cope. Tonight I will be rooting for United, surely even if they didn't want to do us a favour, they'd want to do themselves one and suffer the indignity of being beaten by their arch-rivals.?

Here’s my prediction :

City will win tonight by 2 or 3 goals. United fans will try to make out that they threw the game to stop us winning the title. Sorry lads but you’ll lose tonight because you are utter crap, and even a tiring City will have too much for you.

I have more faith in Burnley getting a result against City than I do United.

Whatever happens I will be proud of my team’s efforts, if we miss out on the title I will be proud that we pushed the petrodollar mob all the way.

I am so glad I’m not a United fan. A squad loaded with deadwood that’s drastically in need of major upgrades, but in order to achieve that they need the kind of players who will want Champions League football. Lose tonight and they are condemned to Europa League football under the management of a lightweight who doesn’t even have the balls to park in Ferguson’s car parking space Bounce

You Mancs might be laughing if we miss the title, but the last laugh will be ours watching you lot having to play the likes of Spartak Binmen on Thursday nights next season, while we dine at Europe’s top table, potentially as reigning Champions of Europe.
If United had nothing to play for the rest of the season then I'd half expect them to sit back & just chalk it up as another loss & a step towards City retaining the Title but as I said previously this for me is United's defining game to claim the 4th Champion's League spot. And for a team in flux throughout the Season reaching the Quarter Final's this season to then finish 5th or 6th as Carl-Gen-X said effectively being relegated into the Europa League for next season would be a sickener for the club & the fans. And would the club & fans prioritize tribal loyalty above a Champions League spot I seriously doubt it.Irrespective of form (& 4-0 hidings in their previous game)derby games are like cup-finals & for 90 mins us Liverpool fans will temporarily be United fans & here's hoping their match winners ie Pogba,Rashford etc put in a shift.I do expect a close with the odd goal winning it either way.
Well it's not working because Man City are 2-0 up so it is looking like a win again for City and back to the top of the league - Huddersfield could be our easiest game but I wouldn't want to celebrate too early as anything can happen in a game of football especially against teams with nothing to lose-I mean look back the 3rd round of the FACup once and Havant and Waterlooville, who ran rings around us for three goals against all odds, but we needed Steven Gerrard to score which he did and we eventually won 5-3. Newcastle after Huddersfield, who don't forget beat us last season and Wolves who are beating Arsenal 3-1 and they are our last game of the season. Let us hope it doesn't come down to that game. At the moment it sounds like Man Utd have been nothing short of abject!
United played quite well in what was a goalless 1st half but when Lindegard mis-kicked on a cross from Ashley Young which was an open goal in the 2nd half you just felt United was going to rue that missed chance & Bernado Silva obliged soon after with a goal of his own.I always thought De Gea was the best keeper in the world but when Sane scored the second & how De Gea floundered on it & numerous dodgy goals he's conceded this season I don't think he is at present.

Burnley upset the apple-cart a bit against Chelsea the other night so here's hoping Sean Dyche's boys get stuck into City this weekend.
Oh well, it was probably a bit much to think that Utd might beat City and so it goes on, back and forth by a point and we look forward to Huddersfield at Anfield on Friday. I think Gary Neville will be ripping into them tomorrow in the papers along with the journalists - certainly didn't impress Robbie Savage on 5live. Solskjaer obviously not quite the saviour of club as supporters first thought-too soon to have made him manager? I recall someone rang 606 earlier last year saying that Klopp needed to go-I wonder how he feels now! Big Grin
I don’t know why but I have a real hunch that we are going to finish 2nd but will have to make do with winning the Champions League.

Barcelona are not that good. It was a useless Man U that made them look better than they really are. I can see us getting at least a draw in the Nou Camp before finishing them off at an Anfield which will be absolutely rocking.
According to reports Virgil Van Dijk has pipped Raheem Sterling to become this seasons PFA Player of the year who for me is undoubtedly the best CB in the world. It is often said by commentators & fellow ex-players that for young players coming into the game to study & learn from certain players who are expert in their field or the best in what they do.Having watched Liverpool in every game this season whether it be on Sky Sports/BT Sports, the LFCTV channel & 5 games at Anfield & you can clearly see how he orchestrates things (& barks out orders) around the pitch where he at times you see he has Gerrard's vision in picking out a 30-40 yard pass. And to see Van Dijk when in a one-on-one scenario often against faster players we he has that visual awareness to close gaps & restrict opportunities is a master-class for young defenders to learn from.

People balked at the £65+million transfer fee we paid for him & it looks a bargain. He was a regular free-kick taker at Celtic & scored some belters for them & I just wonder if Arnold or Salah will give Van Dijk a chance with a free-kick or two in the future.
Great news about van Dijk. I also see that our under18's are playing in the Youth Cup final against Man City tonight so let's hope for a good game and a win for the lads. Gerrard's cousin Barry? Duncan is playing in that and a new kid Paul Glatzel. Saw a picture of a very dapper looking Salah in a tuxedo at some do in New York in the papers. Let's hope his main focus is tomorrow night at Anfield against Huddersfield. I am concerned about Barcelona, I think you write them off at your peril and certainly aren't a 'bang average' team especially as they have Coutinho playing and you can NEVER write Messi off, so let's see how the first leg goes. I still think it is Man City's title to lose; Burnley are a good side against the major teams so maybe they might do us a favour but you can never tell-"it's a funny old game Saint(as Jimmy Greaves used to say) Smile
