I'm not a Liverpool fan (i support Arsenal) but i fucking hate chelsea with all their money power buying the title bullshit. Honestly WTF? Fernando isn't going to do much them. Man U will win the league I reckon. Plus Chelsea have an ageing team, so it's only a matter of time before the majority of their squad retires soon. I can't believe Fernando went though. But to be fair Liverpool are playing shit this season and they are not going to make top 4 again. So a big name like Torres was probably right to leave, but not to fucking Chelsea

Only a certain number of teams would have him/or he would leave them for.

look at suarez's interviews going on about how everyone wants to play for liverpool and it's a dream to play for them even though before he knew of the interest from liverpool last year he was bigging up real madrid, barca, man utd etc. they say what the fans want to hear.

that parntnership between torres and drogba scares the hell out of me, the only two strikers that really bother ferdinand and vidic aree those two and there in the same team

On paper Drogba - Torres is the best partnership in the world for me (time will tell if this is true), but as I said before I've gotta feelin Drogs will be off in the summer and Torres has been bought as his replacement rather than strike partner

As for the interview/s, people should take them with a pinch of salt, as you said, he's a Chelsea player now and has to say things to please us
After all he's not exactly gonna say "I hate that I've joined a club who have no history, buy their success [inserts other anti-Chelsea stereotypes]", is he?

I am a tad surprised at the amount of abuse directed his way, you could tell he loved Liverpool, but just wanted to win trophies, something that's not exactly guarenteed at Liverpool.

I don't want to sound like a broken record constantly defending Torres, I agree he showed no respect in how he left us and deserves a certain amount of abuse but I think his quote last night was blown way out of proportion. English isn't his first language, it's 12 o'clock after a long weekend and journos are looking for anything that'll make a headline. It's his first interview with the club, he's hardly going to spend it talking about us.
He was quoted as saying this today about the match on Sunday :-

"It is not perfect for me but we will see what happens and I only have good words about Liverpool.

"They made me a top player and gave me the chance to play at the top level.

"I will never say anything bad about Liverpool. I have been very happy there"

Yes, he also said he'd like to score but again, new player, new club, hardly going to say otherwise.
Let's be honest, we're not top level at the moment, Torres feels he's better than playing the likes of Rabotnicki in the EL, and he probably is. It's a pity he didn't stick around but he's gone, and hopefully selling Fernando Torres is one of our first steps to climbing back to the summit of English and European football.

I respect your opinion n01scruff and you put your opinion across quite well but what he has done this weekend has left a sour taste. It's not the fact that he left the club that has upset the fans. It's the manner in which he left. Putting in a transfer request a couple of days before the window closed was a slap in the face to the club, especially after pledging to see out his contract a couple of weeks before. The Liverpool fans absolutely idolised him. He was loved not just at the football club but throughout the city of Liverpool. He insulted the club last night, in his interview by saying he "can finally play for one of Europes big clubs". That is a disgraceful comment and there was nothing lost in translation in that comment. He has a very short memory. He had NEVER played champions league football before he came to Liverpool and only had an average goal scoring record. He became the player he is today at Liverpool. It's a real shame because he could have gone down in Liverpool's history as one of our greatest ever strikers. Instead he's going to be remembered as a mercenary who betrayed the fans who adored him for this lot of fans.......



That's the last i'll say about Mr. Torres on here. He has gone now and no player is bigger than Liverpool Football Club at the end of the day. We can look to the future with Suarez and Carroll and hopefully pushing up the table this season and improving on that next season

I agree pretty much with what you said. Some of my own stuff is a bit too pro-Torres but I'm trying to keep away from, and provide an alternative to, some of the Torres bashing going on all over the place. I tihnk at this stage most fans will accept he left for footballing reasons but, as you say, its how he left that's sore.What he did was unforgiveable. With 3 day left in the window, the club clearly taking steps forward in improving the squad and only weeks after committing himself his actions were like a kick in the stomach/balls. His word, like so many footballers it seems, is pretty worthless.
Had he stuck around I think he could have challenged Rush in the hearts of Liverpool fans, even without all of Rush's silverware, but now thats gone the way of his shirt outside Melwood. I'll still respect his ability (if not his integrity) as a player, and what he did for us, but all my love for him is gone forever.
I think its time to draw a line under this as well, move on and look forward to our 2 new singings and hopefully many more!

The Interview he did for Chelsea TV yesterday of which some of you lads quoted disgust me and feels like a kick in the crotch! Luis Suarez is a quality signing which I've been hoping for since the summer and Money aside (It was a tad much) Andy Carroll is a good signing but coming out and saying he was "forced out" was not the best of things to say after joining your New club. Both young and hope they connect helping the team get back to their feet!!

Luis Suarez came from Ajax to Liverpool, his continental, his fucking mental, He'll smash the goals in all day!
