I suppose the lure of his home town club was a bit too much & we thought of another space open on the wage bill i.e Dirk Kuyt.

Don't think Maxi would've been the managers first choice for the right Mitchell. He might have been, but i think Borini was always gonna be his man. If we're playing the 433 then i'm happy with how we stand just now. Suarez Carroll Borini.

Rodgers tried to get Raheem Sterling on loan last season, looking forward to seeing him more than any other. Although just 17, he's the most exciting player i've seen.
I can't see Andy Carroll starting too many games & thats if he's here come August 31st, unless he gets a chance early on & starts banging in goals but for Rodgers style to work long term a Carroll type player won't be the answer.

From what we have at the minute I cans see this being our first choice lineup.

You could swap Downing for Bellamy if he's still here & maybe Adam with Aquilani or put Cole on the left with Gerrard on the right of Suárez & Aquilani or Henderson in right centre midfield.

We've been linked with José Callejón from Real Madrid, that'd be a great signing, he scored pretty much every time he came on as sub towards the end of the season, he'd cost about £8m tops £12m.
I take it you were knocking around on the tactics board when we signed Borini earlier! Rolleyes He's one of the front 3 for sure old boy.

Convinced myself that Suarez will play on the left of the 3, Borini right and Carroll down the middle (He'll fit into system just fine, you watch). With you on the back 4, Lucas and Stevie but i think Henderson will start more often than not. We've got a lot of players fighting for what's prob gonna be 3 spots in the midfield. Gerrard, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing, Aquilani.

Borini coming in earlier might have made Bellamy's mind up. We're letting most of the lads over 30 go Kuyt, Maxi, Aurelio... Rodgers mentioned Craig's age the other day... Got a feeling he might be next. Hope he stays though.

Manager said 2 or 3 more players in so who knows mate. Guess work all this, they've only made 4 enquiries for players. Would love to know exactly who they were but it's boss that we don't know. Old school. My guess is Borini, Tello from Barcelona, maybe Walcott and Joe Allen. Could be miles out though.
I've not see or read much about Fabio Borini to be honest I thought he was a central striker? I've been thinking Luis would play left as he likes that side of the box. With Cole on the right who can play right of the 3 midfielders as well he'll interchange well with Gerrard throughout games so I can see him getting the right side forward slot.

We've got a good few options for the 3 midfield places this is why I was saying last season we need to play 4-3-3, even with the squad as it is we don't have to buy a midfielder.
Lucas will be first choice even above Gerrard over 38 games but especially away from home when winning 0-1 we can bring Spearing on right for added protection in the centre as well as Johnson (Gerrard would go left obviously) whoever starts could be replaced with.
Aquilani - Good passing technique.
Adam - Again quality passer but not great in the tackle, same as above.
Henderson - Will put himself about & offer options going forward, more or less on the right doubling up as cover for the right back.
Shelvey - More likely to come on when we're winning 0-2 as he's still young & needs to gain experience but will offer a bit going forward around the box.
Joe Cole - I see him more as one of the front 3 but is a good creative option in the midfield.

I think Rodgers is looking to give chances to our fast developing young talent that’s why Kuyt, Maxi & probably Bellamy are no longer needed.

Jack Robinson, Suso, Conor Cody & maybe Andre Wisdom could be given a few chances in the cup competition more than likely alongside dead certs Sebastián Coates, Jon Flanagan, Jay Spearing & Danny Wilson. I think Raheem Sterling will be used in the cups as well but this season he maybe used as a 2nd choice sub for one of the forward roles in the league games & Martin Kelly I expect at some point will take over the right back slot.

All in all even with no more signings I think we've got a squad capable of comfortably finishing in the top 3 as long as we take to Rodgers style within the first 8 games which given the players we've got we should do.

I can't wait for the season to start, excited as fuck!!!

Not counting the Lancashire League 1892–93 we've won 22 league titles in total: Football League Second Division 4 & Football League First Division 18 the last of which was 22 years ago, this season starts in 2012, 01 in the league 22 years on, spooky, or am I just looking at the same shit they did with Coronation Street & the European Cup. Rolleyes
Borini is a big risk will be interesting to see how he does. This season will be a long one as rodgers gets the team together but with some good work next season should be strong.

borini will wear NO. 29 on his shirt. But ive already bought my new LFC home shirt and i got AGGER!
Newcastle submit a bid for Andy Carroll on season long long loan
He's a good plan b even barcelona get caught out not having a plan b sometimes
Personally I'd like Andy to stay, but the american owners seem intent on bringing in Clint Dempsey before the tour of the US,myself I wouldn't pay 8/9 million for a 29yo.
