I have just read on our official website, that Babel has agreed a move to Hoffenheim. He will fly to Germany tomorrow to finalise the deal.
This must mean Luiz Suarez is a no go then as I thought Babel would be part of that deal as he wanted to go back to Ajax & I don't see us paying £20m cash, we'll probably use some of this to add to the £4m we've already bid for Charlie Adam although like I've said why we need another centre mid I don't know unless we're gonna sell christian poulsen in the summerBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin & go without a defensive midfielder???
I think the money from Babel may go to Suarez, but don't know about Charlie Adam. I hope your right about Poulsen Big Grin.
is it just me or should we be buying better players than charlie adam, dont get me wrong he is a good player but he's only been in the prem for over half a season i think we should be buying top players who can get us in the top 4 again. we need to buy a world class striker to support torres and add depth to the squad we've needed a striker when robbie kean left. i just think we can a lot better than charlie adam we need someone like alonso.
Errr we sold Xabi AlonsoRolleyes Charlie Adam is slow...Like Alonso he can pass a ball...Like Alonso so maybe he'll do well if he comes but as I've said before I don't see we need him... I'm sure I keep repeating this!!! as for him not being a Liverpool style player, Nicklas Bendtner, Mikel John Obi & Michael Carrick every teams got one but Adam would do better for us than these have done at their clubs especially BendtnerSad
I think we have at least 3 or 4 players already who are not Liverpool style playersBig Laugh i.e Konchesky, Poulsen, Jovanovic and Ngog.

Now, take those out and replace them with the names that we are reported to be interested in...i.e Warnock, Adam, Downing/Young, Suarez and it gives us massive strength in depth and a bit of class on the bench when needed. Here's hoping we get one or 2 of them names Tongue
For me there isn't a better passer of the ball in the league than Adam. The vision the lad's got is boss.We need a player who can dish the ball around the pitch with precision like a quarter back (like xabi did) and if we can get him for 8-10 million i think that'd be a great bit of business.

The owners told Dalglish that money isn't an issue and they'll back him up with whoever he wants to bring. So im sure he'll up the bid and bring the lad in.

We're doin busines the way we used to so we probs won't find out till it's done and dusted.
I would prefer if Liverpool didn't resign Warnock. Johnson has done well at Left Back and Kelly has been brilliant at rightback. It gives us more attacking options as both get forward and have pace.

Charlie Adam is a world class long range passer and I would love to see him at Liverpool. Like Ian Halloway said, Liverpool have never replaced Alonso. It's no coincidence that out slide down the table over the past 2 seasons is due partly to the loss of Alonso and Mascherano. Too many times this year, Liverpool have lacked creativity in midfield and has resulted in the loss of form of too many players. Lucus was never a defensive midfielder to start off with. He has improved so much this season and is probably one of our most consistant performers. His tackling is improving and he is starting to break up the play with his positioning.

Things are on the up now with Kenny back in charge. They should buy Suarez now as it gives him the rest of the season to get used to the pace and physicality of the League. Then he can hit the new season running. N'Zogbia would be another good signing at the right price. He is a tried and tested player that would give an alternative option to Dirk Kuyt. If the price is too high, I would hope they wait until the summer and go for Ashley Young. Now that Babel is about to leave, a winger is a must along with a striker. Ither new recruits can wait until the summer, when the prices wont be so inflated.

Now that confidence is returning, the existing players are now producing the performance's that everyone expects from them. So not long left of the window now. Hopefully some business will be done.
I think if Warnock is available for loan this window I think we should possibly give him a go. While Johnson's performance against Wolves was fine, Wolves targeted Kelly (who gave another very solid performance) solely with everything coming down our right flank via Jarvis. Johnson at LB doesn't inspire confidence in me and is hopefully a patchwork solution. Aurelio and Warnock fighting for LB would give me more piece of mind, but only til the summer when a more permanent replacement can be found or Insua comes back. It has to be remembered that he was the same age as Kelly last season and played alot more games, I think he's been hugely underrated.

Adam would not be my first choice as a replacement for Alonso. I'll admit I haven't seen bags of him this season but I cant get rid of doubts about a player who was considered unnecessary for Rangers and the SPL and was valued at £500,000 only 18 months ago. While he can find a killer pass, Xabi did so much more for us. Alongside Mascherano, Alonso put in a huge amount of hard graft and in my eyes put in as many tackles as Masch, winning a good proportion of his own ball. He was also able to dictate the tempo of the game using his array of short and long passes at the right moments. Adam's time at Rangers was dogged by questions about his fitness, his tracking back and his need to always play the killer ball. If we signed him for £5-6,000,000 I could accept that, but anything over would be over priced in my eyes.
I'd also question where he'd fit into our system. Lucas has been the primary DM this season, always putting in tackles and hassling the opposition. If he were to be dropped and a MF consisting of Adam-Meireles-Gerrard was picked I struggle to see who'd win that primary ball.

I'm also not sure that money isn't an object. If this was the case surely the Suarez transfer would have been wrapped up days ago. I know we're looking for value for money but talks haven't progressed in a week with the price being the key issue.
Warnock hasn't featured for Villa of late. Maybe he has been injured or maybe he is being kept out by Ciaran Clark who is playing very well. Warnock is no more then a squad player and I cant see how he would improve Liverpool. He makes many a bad decision and he is not very good at attacking. He is a step backwards. Not sure on the form of Insua since his loan move. He was a liability last season with too many mistakes and made to look very average. Maybe it was a confidence thing?

In the last year, Liverpool have lacked width and played the long ball game far too often. I am more then happy with Johnson and Kelly as full backs with their forward runs. If you look at any successful side of late, they all have at least one attacking fullback. The current top 4 all have two attacking fullbacks.

I have watched a lot of games this season featuring many different teams. There is so much more to Charlie Adam then the Killer long ball. He is not the best at tracking back but If he proves to be a success? He wont turn around in a few years and say it's his dream to play for Barcalona or Real Madrid like so many foreigners do. He fits into Kenny's way of playing. How? We will have to wait and see.

Kenny has gone back to former traditions and playing style that made Liverpool such a formidable team. Towards the end of Rafa's reign and during Hodgson's, teams no longer feared playing Liverpool. The pass and move style that we will now play, will mean that we will dictate the play in most games. It's work in progess, but the early signs are encouraging. If we are the team atttacking, then there will be less defending for Johnson and Kelly to do. Simples really.
