Looks like we’re being prepared for a quiet transfer window....Surprised
Rhian Brewster was being given the enth degree by Manc Utd fans saying they think he is not a patch on their player Mason Greenwood, so lets see. Has Mason got a World Cup winners meda? NO!, has he got a Golden Boot in a World Cup tournament? NO! was he the top scorer in a World Cup? NO! So how can they compare their man to Rhian Brewster and think he is a better prospect. I hope Brewster plays for the first team against this chap and blows him away with goals!

Good start to pre-season here 6-0 against Tranmere Rovers! Next to come the US Tour and the Western Union Cup.
Drat! Narrowly lost to Borussia Dortmund by one goal 3-2 last night in the USA, with our three top strikers out due to the Afcons, we played Brewster, Wilson(once on loan to Derby) and Kent, whom I don't know. We did rather well but our defence was less than effective and didn't stop BD from scoring. Next up Sporting Lisbon I think. Saw result on BBC website btw, didn't see game.
Drat again! Lost 2-1 to Sevilla but a really bad tackle on Yasser Larouci led to a Sevilla sending off. Without the big three Liverpool look vulnerable, and they were also playing in a country where a deadly heatwave is hitting-great timing! If our players come out of this unscathed it will be a miracle-didn't seem to be that friendly.
Darn it! Just a draw with Sporting Lisbon but by some strange method perhaps someone can explain we get to share the Western Union Cup with them even though we lost our first two games and drew the third??? Onward to the new season with renewed vigour and first up UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea.
Yet another loss in Edinburgh 3-0 against Napoli!! It's not boding well for us but that is really showing that we miss our star line up of Firmino, Salah, Mané and Becker. Brewster and new boy Elliott did well along with Harry Wilson back from Derby County and Origi played a full game but it has been a disastrous warm up and with one more game on Wednesday, sorry I can't remember who it is against, but we need to be on top form for Sunday's Community Shield with Man City and then the week after that against Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup. I just hope the pre-season stuff can be put behind us and we start the new season well - I can predict one thing, all the naysayers that reckoned Liverpool had it easy winning the European Cup(Champions League) will be out in force to say I told you so.
Having watched the Napoli game on LFTV yesterday I have to say we were absolutely fucking dreadful but when I saw the team-sheet at the beginning boasting a midfield line-up of Henderson,Milner,Fabinho & Wiljnaldum (all defensive midfielders) I had that gut feeling we'd create very few chances where there is a clear lack of creativity between them & I was proved right with 3 shots on target throughout the entire game. The comical part was when Henderson & Milner were berating their team-mates for playing so bad when Henderson & Milner were awful themselves.Okay friendlies are more about match fitness than results but from the last 4 friendlies we have played we have lost 3 games (L 2-1 Sevilla,L 3-2 Dortmund,L 3-0 Naopli) & drawn 1 (D 2-2 Sporting Lisbon) doesn't give me the greatest feeling of confidence going into the Community Shield against Man City on Sunday or expecting to hit the ground running when the Premiere League returns next week.

Klopp doesn't seem to believe the team/squad need strengthening going into the new season but having not replaced Countinho with a creative midfielder of similar qualities is a gap evidently hasn't been filled (no I wouldn't have Coutinho back).I just wonder with Klopp spending over £150 million in 2018 transfer window it was on the caviat that no spending would be made this year. With a fair few fringe players either being sold or released (Sturridge, Moreno etc) & yet the only transfer dealings have been the Fulham potential starlet Harvey Elliott & Van Den Berg where rumours are they will both be sent out on loan.I thought we had a pretty thin squad in terms of quality going into last season but even less so now offloading players without acquiring replacements although Klopp has assured youngsters Rhian Brewster,Harry Wilson etc they will get more game time this season.I just look at our strikers options where Firminho is the no1 choice & should he be misfiring or get injured the there is only Origi or Brewster to fall back on.

One can clearly tell that plenty of Liverpool fans are frustrated by the lack of signings particularly on the back of winning the CL & the prize money with it when Robbie Fowler writes a column in the Sunday Mirror urging fans for patience.
I bought tickets a few months ago for the Community Shield game this Sunday at Wembley for my nephew & myself & having read several reports in a few of the papers this morning that Klopp is contemplating fielding a 'weakened' side against City as Klopp doesn't want to risk players (WTF?).Mane was pictured on holiday yesterday having played in the AFCON cup a few weeks back as was Salah which I fully understand & likewise with Allison & Firminho who played in the Copa's & so they aren't back in training mode.I was pumped for the game as beating City before the start of the PL season will give us a psychological edge but if Klopp doesn't take this game seriously & is true to his word on fielding a 'weakened team' & resting key players other than Mane,Salah,Allison & Firminho I'm going to the game on Sunday with the hump.I joked to my nephew that if Klopp decides to play Milner,Henderson, Wijnaldum & Fabinho together in midfield he can go & watch the game on his own lol.

I read somewhere the transfer window closes before the start of the first match of the season on the 8th August (us against Norwich I believe) so it leaves around 10 days left for deals & transfers to be done. This is how should always have been instead instead of certain players downing tools (& refusing to play) at the start of the season trying to wrangle a move before the end of August.
I think it is best that you don't believe everything you read in the papers or online-it's a bit like the Daily Mail saying we're in for the worst snow in centuries when there is hardly any snow at all. No-one can know what will happen in advance so it is best to keep your fingers crossed and if it's not officially shown on the BBC etc then it is merely speculation. Enjoy the game Sunday I'll be listening and hoping and then we play our first league game Friday against Norwich City.
That's more like it-Liverpool 3-1 Lyon. Firmino scores as does Harry Wilson so all is right with the world. I hope its a good game on Sunday and of course we beat Man City(or we'll never hear the end of it)
