We signed him from The Ne-ther-lands Suarez, Suarez.
He'll bite you on your neck again Suarez, Suarez.
He plays in goal, he plays up front.
He's better than the other c*nt.
Luis Suarez Liverpools number 7!!!!!
I think in the big picture, £50 million cash money upfront for a player, who wanted out the moment Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League, is good business. A lot has been made about the £35 million fee for Andy Carroll, but my understanding is both that and the £23 million for Suarez are success based deals. They are not like the £50 million upfront deal for Torres. In order for Newcastle & Ajax to get the full amount for each deal, both players will need to meet certain stipulations. Take the transfer fees out of the equation and we've got two top quality forwards, one established the other with a lot of scope, for one very talented player that was injury jinxed and consequently won nothing during his time at the club.
The attitude and body language of Torres has been poor for a while, so it was no surprise to me that he left. I can understand his frustration with the way things were previously, but it's a new regime. Suarez was specifically signed to blend with Torres and form a lethal strike partnership. To disregard the club like that, at this stage, is out of order. Torres has let his fear of winning nothing at Athletico Madrid, and to this point with Liverpool, cloud his judgement. Abramovich is obsessed with winning the Champions League - and Torres saw an opportunity to win the Champions League with Chelsea this season. In my opinion, that's the main reason he left at this transfer window.
Andy Carroll was one of the main players I thought of as an acceptable replacement for Torres. I've been impressed with him this season. He's a one off. He can score all types of goals and fits the NESV criteria of signing young talent with a lot of scope for improvement. There were very few alternative strikers we could have got, either established World Class or with massive potential, at this stage of the season. Even in the summer, there would be no guarantees of getting anyone else as good with other big clubs more proactive in the transfer market.
On another note, some of the abuse Roy Hodgson got this season, from a small percentage of fanboys, before leaving the club was well out of line (unfortunately, every football club has a bad element of fanboys). Some of Hodgson's interviews/press conferences didn't go down well, and the pressure was clearly too much for him, but he's a good man and a good coach. His tactics were just not suitable for a club like Liverpool.
It's good to see King Kenneth back. He's got some unfinished business, so it'll be interesting to see how things progress...
king kenny knows how liverpool play, like gaurdiola at barca knows how barca play. where as other managers that have been tried to change the style, benetiz sides were good in europe and had maybe 1 or 2 seasons where they come close. liverpool are 7th, not bad considering the start they had. hodgson is a good manager but has more impact at "smaller" clubs, like fulham.
i think kenny and nesv will be successful long term. if liverpool finish 5 or 6th and do well in the europa league then kenny should be given the job permanently so he can finish what he was doing before the hillsbrough disaster.
Luis Suarez expected to make his debut tonight against stoke
Hopefully will get a cheeky debut goal to settle any nerves but no matter what I expect him to be a great success partnering with Andy Carroll (even though I still think AC cost too much).
Shame we never got a new midfielder in the window also (preferably a winger) because I still feel we can challenge for 4th spot this season, tough game against Chelsea at the weekend but I expect Liverpool to suprise the doubters... again.
Shame about Torres comments on Chelsea TV, but I expect him to be receiving some undeserved boo's at the weekend, if only he saw the bigger picture
So Suarez makes his debut tonight. I reckon it'll be from the bench. It'll be nice to see him in action in the red shirt. Hopefully he'll hit the ground running
the 35 million was upfront for carroll plus add ons
The 35 million is not based on Carroll's success, Newcastle have been given the full amount.
Luis Suarez is on the bench for tonights game, club source. I wanted him to start the game on his debut..
Dont even try to take that goal off Suarez!!!!
