Sounded like we laboured a bit but Norwich can be a tricky side to get at, their defensive wall hard to gt through but unlike Manchester City, Liverpool are proving to be worthy champions elect and yes it might be ugly and at times uneventful but goals are goals and points mean the title.
Smeg! They scored against us from a corner. Not the best of starts but we really only need a draw, an away goal should be good enough to send them back to Anfield a week later and the cauldron of noise that Atletico will come up against in the 2nd leg.
Need the away goal but haven't looked like even coming close to scoring yet. All, the ball and controlling the game well but zero creativity and a goal down, bit unlucky to concede like that. Definitely need to up the intensity, speed of passing and more movement up front if they want to score. Mane needs to be careful, every time he looks at a Madrid player in the second half they will hit the floor in an attempt to get him a second yellow card.
Mané been taken off, Origi is on.
Smart from Klopp, Mane subbed off for Origi. Madrid were definitely going to get him sent off if he stayed on the pitch.
Yeah it sounded like it, listening on the radio-and something about the ballboys frustrating them too but you would expect that. Liverpool are getting the possession but just can't seem to find the net; Salah did in the first half, the flag was raised and it was ruled out! Gomez just booked!
Gawd! Here we go again-another tense European night of drama beckons for Liverpool at Anfield in three weeks time-Atletico had the measure of us and Simoné got his tactics spot on. The crowd will need to play their part but I am still confident we can get the right result against them. Salah taken off, Oxlade-Chamberlain struggling(I hope he's not injured again), as was Henderson and just didn't sound like Liverpool were firing on all cylinders. Ah well, next up home to West Ham Monday night.
I would say that it will be tense, but looking at it I would say scoring early at Anfield will be key to whoever wins thi tie. And looking at the bigger picture would it be possible to say you would rather the guys sacrificed being knocked of CL so you can concentrate on completing the PL job, knowing that at least you've pretty much guaranteed CL football next season.
Crowd was fantastic, Atl's game plan was spot on. Midfield didn't work for me.
