And rodgers hasn't failed with his transfer spending?

AVB had the highest win percentage of any Spurs manager since the PL era began. And its some of his signings that are starting to shine through at Spurs so his transfer policy wasn't all bad. He wasn't great at Chelsea but he got them through the CL group stages which is something Rodgers may struggle to do with Liverpool despite having a much easier group.

I think Liverpool need to bring back Rafa and rebuild again, starting from the GK and the centre backs, what a joke of a team.

P.S. Anyone who plays Johnson at LB when they have Moreno in the squad is a joke.

If it's some of his ' signings that are starting to shine ' then logic dictates that Rodgers signings will come good ,some people need reminding that not all players settle instantly at new clubs , as I've said before our situation is somewhat similar to Newcastle earlier in the season and their now doing well with the SAME manager

For the GK , CB's and Johnson totally agree with you although Toure starting has helped recently .

Spurs are a Top club? laugh I think you will find it wasn't him signing the players at spurs it was Baldini who brought in thoses players not AVB..

And at chelsea Abramovic was telling him who he had to start basically, and he wasn't allowed to do things his way...
^^^ I disagree.

He came in to coach a side that had a very defined culture and playing style and that could have done very well that year. But he was so intent on proving himself that he tried to overhaul their tactics too quickly and it backfired horribly on him.

The best proof is that when Di Matteo took over, he basically turned it into the easiest coaching job in history. He just let Chelsea be Chelsea, with Terry, Drogba, Lampard, Cech, Cole and Ivanovic calling the shots. They then went on to win the Champions League through the brilliant strategy of undoing everything that AVB had tried to do.

He is a young 'project' manager that got lucky with Porto. He should be looking at a bottom or mid-table club that will give him the 2-3 years minimum that he needs to assemble the kind of players he needs to play the style of football that he wants.

He wouldn't get that kind of time at Liverpool.

I agree with whoever suggested Benitez. He would be ideal. But he is not doing badly at Napoli, so that is probably a long shot.
At Chelsea I think AVB was just wrong job wrong time. He was to young and not suitably established to have the respect of stalwarts such as Terry, Drogba, Cole, Lampard etc. It was very unlikely he was going to get their support and when he was indicating he was looking to replace a few, there was no way they were going to cooperate and a power struggle ensued. Abramovich sided with the players.

At spurs he did a reasonable job just that he was at a club with delusions of grandeur.

I think any club were to give him three years unconditionally he could do impressive things with them. If Liverpool were looking for a manager to replace Brendan Rodgers now, and hit the ground running then I think Guus Hiddink would be the best choice if they Could get him.

You don't get lucky and Win a European trophy and a treble.... he didn't just walk into the Porto job he worked his way there and had a great season with Academica before that... As a Porto supporter I know a lot about AVB.

You forget chelsea employed him to change the way they play, yet the board and players didn't let him do it, name me 1 player AVB signed at chelsea?....

Then you say Di Mattaeo did a better job than him? Who is to say AVB wouldn't have won the CL?... he should deserve a CL winning medal just as much as Di Mattaeo, AVB took them to the knockout rounds...

And if Di Matteo did that much better why was he sacked?... why do you think AVB was lucky at porto yet you think Di Mattaeo at chelsea wasn't lucky?

Either way I would take AVB over Rodgers any day and I would happily welcome Benitez back
How about giving Rodgers time to sort it and not make snap decisions , novel idea I know Rolleyes

A fair assessment generally, but I agree with this bit in particular. This is my point about Liverpool ... they would never give him the 'unconditional' time that he needs to overhaul the squad and playing style to suit the tactics that he seems to favour. And, yes, Guus Hiddink is a good shout.

I do think Di Matteo was lucky! That's my point exactly. ... But he at least had the good sense to just be a spectator and watch Mourinho's team pick themselves up and win the CL after the AVB debacle. He was probably the luckiest of the bunch. He had the best season ticket in the stadium -- right there in the dugout!

If you are going to switch out Rodgers in the short term, I think you need someone with a track record of playing a good hand or two with the cards he is dealt (e.g. Hiddink, Benitez, Big Sam, even Claudio Ranieri if he is still out there), rather than someone that is going to whinge at the first transfer window about not getting the targets he wants.

I'm sure players like Emre Can and Origi will become fantastic players, Balotelli wasn't a bad signing either but certain players need to play with a certain style and I don't think Rodgers is getting the best out of his signings thus failing.

And yeah, too many clubs are sacking managers without giving them time, hopefully the achievements of Pardew and Allardyce this season will help to stem the flow of manager sackings. I believe Rodgers should be given this season to do what he can and if Liverpool finish in the top 5 then maybe another season. But I still think AVB and Rafa are better managers.
