The £50m transfer fee for Torres looks to have been spent on Andy Carroll and Charlie Adam????. The UK valuations are a joke. Too good players who will do well, but ridiculous fees. Panic buys on deadline day.
They should have just kept Torres and brought wisely in the summer. Or maybe Torres will stay as well? Nah, cant see it myself.
Edit: The reporters for Sky Sports News need to get better and more reliable sources. Some of the info they come out with is laughable. Maybe they do it to get more activity on Skybet?
Newcastle have sold Carroll to Liverpool for the 30 million, after Carroll put in a transfer request.
Last 2 seasons Andy Carroll has scored only 25 goals in 61 games....
£35million???
I agree panic buy! Should have kept Torres and sold him to Man City/Barcelona/Real Madrid ooor Chelsea in the summer transfer window for £70 million!
No doubt that Carroll is a quality striker but come on...£35 million?? How is that justified??

With a release clause in his contract for £50 mill, that might have proven to be difficult, unless those clubs engaged in a bidding war (which they obviously haven't done at the moment). His injury record isn't great - it would probably be sensible to take £50 million while he's fit (if they do get an offer for that amount) - another injury and run of poor form might well make it difficult to get that amount.
That's very true Skateguy; the problem is that once a player's handed in a transfer request you've pretty much lost him upstairs.
Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't exactly brilliant in his last season at Old Trafford despite scoring about 26 goals - whenever he had a tantrum or a poor game fans rightly questioned his commitment, and he hadn't even handed in a request but merely sulked when his dream move to the Bernabeau was deferred for twelve months. I also feel Rooney is a shell of his former self, as if his mind is not in it - has he been promised a move in the summer, I wonder???
What Jamie Carragher allegedly said about Torres was undoubtedly based on seeing his attitude in training every day as well as his pretty lacklustre efforts on the pitch. Like Master Yoda said earlier elsewhere, Carragher is an astute bloke who not only tells it like it is but who bleeds Liverpool FC.
If I was Liverpool I'd be praying that Abramovich pays up by 11.00pm; it'd be the biggest 'how the hell did we get THAT much for HIM' bit of business since Chelsea paid United £16million for Juan-Sebastian Veron!

Or since Newcastle got £30-£35 million for Carroll!

if does go he will be overpriced, overpaid and overrated on current form. real madrid has history in buying those sort of players.
carroll and suarez for liverpool could be good partnership if they hit off so to speak. if carroll stays out of trouble off the pitch and just concentrate on the football he will be great player for liverpool in a few years.
Rooney certainly would be over-priced, overpaid and over-rated should he move to Real Madrid or whoever, but then again he's two out of those three now, isn't he?
As for that oh-so-loyal Geordie Andy Carroll, this is a man who manages to find plenty of trouble in a one-club-town where everyone supposedly idolises him save for the Mackems who live/work/socialise in Newcastle.
How's he going to stay out of trouble when he meets some irate Evertonian on one of his nights out on the Jaegermeister? After all, isn't his falling off a stool in a Newcastle club the real reason why he's currently out injured?
i think that there will be conditions laid down his contract about behaviour. £50m for torres not bad business for a player who is injured alot, at the moment below par, £35m for carroll, one for the future, £23m for saurez, yes he is a cheat but can score goal and should play well with carroll, the old big guy small fella partnership. less than 2hrs to get charlie adam. koncheskey to forest on loan. i can see majority of players signed by benitez and hodgson go in the summer window.
they have too many average and ageing players.
