Mate, while I share your sentiment, how much time do you believe Martinez would be afforded by the management, let alone the fans if & when results go wrong?
Then what do we do?start from scratch again?
All i'm saying is get someone in who has a proven record on a short term contract (2 years) for now, to kick start are rise back to grace & then maybe someone like Carra can take over, going back to the good old successful bootroom days.
Just my opinion.

If we apoint someone on a 2 year contract than thats kinda like what Chelsea do, and while I think Carra will be our manager at some point i think two years would be too soon for him as I think he should do what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing as his ultimate goal is to be United's manager and by all accounts Carra DOES want to be the boss at some point .
I don't see why Martinez wouldn't be afforded time as Rafa was as Houllier was before him, Martinez has been given time at Wigan and while their position has not been the best their style of play has been good and I think that with better players ( again no offense Wigan ) he could do a whole lot better .
Well let's put this to bed,Pep G has announced he is willing to listen to offers and is ready to be seduced by a club.
So if Fenway sports group are serious about Liverpool they should move heaven & earth to entice him to us,he meets all the criteria we claim to be looking for,and them some.
If Pep is looking for work then the owners should make an approach, he fits the profile better than anyone so if the owners are serious he has to be on the list you should always aim high and see how far you get instead of aiming low and putting up with average as we have been doing for a long time.

That's exactly why the owners would never appoint him. Someone who is regarded that way by Liverpool supporters is exactly what they want to avoid. The last thing they want is someone who has that kind of connection with Liverpool supporters, as they know that when making tough decisions that he may disagree with the supporters would automatically side with Benitez. Having got rid of Dalglish, there are hardly likely to go from the frying pan to the fire by appointing Benitez. The owners want to do it their way and begin with a fresh slate, not install some Liverpool fans favorite which would obviously be dangerous. Plus Benitez is no doubt viewed as too confrontational, given his battles with those above him in the past, at Liverpool, Valencia and Inter. Benitez seems opposite to the kind of person that FSG would want. Given that he's always sought more control, I would think he's about as far down the list for this job as anyone could get. Not to mention that one of FSG's consultants is apparently a certain Rick Parry - now I can't imagine that Parry would give Benitez a glowing reference, can you???
Rafa for Aston Villa anyone?

What would you do for next season though? Guardiola said he was willing to listen to offers for season 2013/14.
He said he's taking a month/months but would listen to offers,so with Liverpool looking to install a director of football first, opening dialogue with pep would be a possibility.
I'm sure he'll be itching to get back in the game after a few weeks,no matter what he might say.
Wishful thinking some might say,but i'm sure if we're serious we will try to make it happen.

If we intend to move forward we should be letting him know we are interested if not its a huge error.

Guardiola said he needs to take a few months off to recharge his batteries before he returns to management
I think at this moment in time Martinez is almost certain to be our manager within the week.
