Joe allen isnt average, he is quality. He reminds me of a young xabi alonso with his passing skills. Remember these players are still young and will improve alot.
He is repeating Kenny's policy of buying players at inflated fee's that no other club bids for. He was very critical of Kenny yet now he's doing the same thing.
It was damien comolli who payed stupid amounts for players £20 mil for downing, £35 mil for caroll and £15 mil for henderson. thats why he got sacked. Before rodgers came here he said he wanted transfer control and has it, i think £12 mil for sturridge is fair.
It won't seem fair when he has played a bunch of games and not scored many now will it. We can not improve if we set the sights so low. Why is he good enough for Liverpool if he's not good enough for Chelsea?
Rodgers obviously sees somethin in him and thinks he can work to improve him, any young player is goin to cost you a fortune nowadays and the fee isnt exactly astronomical compared to other transfers. You could say thierry henry wasnt thought to be good enough for juventus but he didnt do too badly for arsenal now did he? Lets see what rodgers can get out of him, i see it as a positive signin.
People should stop hating on sturridge, he's been at man shitty, and chelsea, both are teams that aren't known for developing players, they are more interested on buying players who are already at their peak and dont give the guys such as sturridge a chance as they get left on the side lines and become bit part players.
Look how he played at bolton on loan when he was one of the main guys and playing week in week out, pure class.
People were moaning in the summer when we didn't bring anybody in, now we are on the brink of getting in sturridge nice and early people are moaning!
He was 12 mil not bad price for a young england international who can play anywhere up top. He's 23 mil cheaper than carroll, 8 mil cheaper than Downing and in my opinion a far better player and more of a goal threat. Hardly a bad buy by any means.
Brendans being given money to build his own team, without kennys deadwood so lets be happy and optimistic, brendans the manager and knows what is needed for the team more than anybody. Who's to say we won't be bringing others in too?

Because chelsea have money to spend on players such as falcao, ibrahimovic, ronaldo, neymar. They are one of the 5 teams in the world who can afford players of such a level, if they can afford them, there is no reason why they would need sturridge, reality is we can't afford those players so sturridge is a good buy for us.
As for improving him, of course it's possible, look what rafas done to torres in his short time at chelsea, he's done what 3 other managers couldnt and got him scoring again, so there is no reason why Sturridge cant improve under a new manager away from chelsea or man city.
