Robin Hood(via Netflix on a friends' tv) with Taron Egerton telling a completely different story to the one we all know. It is worth watching for his acting, the set piece action scenes in which the stunt people really earned their corn AND finding out the real reason he became an outlaw with a slightly less credible twist at the end. You'd swear blind(and some did) that this was a Guy Richie film but no it had the look of one with lavish settings but also a gritty realism. Worth a watch.
Maverick
I loved the Lethal Weapon gag with Danny Glover.
ad astra. fuckin shite. that is all.
6 Underground. 7.5/10.
Really enjoyed it, some fantastic action sequences (particularly the initial car chase), some things could have been better developed, but there's nothing much I'd complain about. One problem is that it had a pretty big budget, and I don't think it'll recoup that, which means we may not get a sequel (not that one is really needed), worth a look if you're a fan of Ryan Reynolds or not too thinky action movies.
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker
The 42yr 9 episode Skywalker Saga comes to a fantastic & incredibly emotional ending. Tissues will be needed
Special effects are amazing & the action sequences are incredible, really recommend you see it in IMAX 3D. It’s also very emotional & moments that will make your jaw drop, especially when its revealed who Rey’s family is. Some nice surprise cameos too
10/10
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of The Shadows
I might be in the minority but i preferred this over the first one, it still has the same issues as the first film for example how the turtles look and tone of the movie etc etc but it was like cartoon series especially with the new characters and loved all the little money Easter Eggs whether it was the transformers one, there were a few cartoon ones and Easter eggs from the 90’s movies. The ending did feel underwhelming and it was great seeing Stephen Amell as Casey Jones.
Kill List (2011) - at the end of this I wasn't sure if the film was cleverly constructed or just some scenes cobbled together without that much thought. Such a slow and dull first 20 minutes, please can something just happen soon? Then the middle part was good, I liked Michael Smiley's character, a bit of violence with a few odd details. But then it seemed that the writer had got 3/4 the way through and couldn't think how to tie the ends up so just said fuck it , let's do something stupid and nonsensical and see if we get away with it. Unsatisfactory but I'd still recommend it for the main body of the film, and for the fun of trying to work out what it was all about.
"Scott Pilgrim vs The World", one of my all time favourites, directed by Edgar Wright. I love his filmmaking style and would have been intrigued to see his final take on "Antman"
Carry On Loving
One of fav lines is when there’s two women in short skirts walk past Sid James and he says the line “Any shorter and they’ll be powdering two more cheeks” lol
Bumblebee - with all the kids and family
