Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014): Very good reboot of the TMNT franchise. The special effects are very good and the turtles themselves look great and each ones personality and character is exactly how they are in the various cartoons and comic books. The human cast do what is required of them and Megan Fox is very good as April O'Neil. It's also very funny and I laughed throughout the film
8/10
Hot Tub Time Machine - Extended Version, Piss funny 8.5/10.
Last night I watched All Is Lost starring Robert Redford. This film actually barely has any lines as it's a one man show but don't be fooled into thinking that this somehow detracts you from the film. If anything it draws you in further to experience just one disaster after another.
The everyday things that we all take for granted is really put into perspective after watching this movie. The basic plot is one man on a boat who wakes up only to discover water pouring into his cabin after his boat has been collided with another object in the sea.
I'll give it 10 out 10 because it's been a long time since I've seen a movie that has literally kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish as this man struggles for survival from the word go in the hope that he might somehow be rescued.
Warm Bodies. 7/10 Unusual zombie film that takes a gentle stab at the genre. Filmed from a zombie point of view and relates the relationship he develops with a girl who's boyfriend he kills. Not always successful but some humourous moments. Stars Nicholas Hoult (Beast from Xmen)
Tokarev.
If it wasn't for Nicholas Cage's truly awful acting. If it wasn't for the awful acting of the supporting cast, if it wasn't for the terrible, weak script, if it wasn't for the dodgy camera work, if it wasn't for the clumsy direction, if it wasn't for the fact this lasted 98 minutes then this garbage could have been simply a bad film. Truly woeful. 1/10.
THX1138 7/10.
George Lucas' first directorial movie from 1971. This has similarities to Orwells 1984 and is set in a bleak, cold and sterile world where two people rebel against a dystopian regime. There are hints of the future Starwars in some of the set designs and the title name and lead character, THX1138 was used by Lucas for the codename of one of the stormtroopers in the first Starwars movie. The THX part also became the name that Lucas gave to the Lucasfilms sound system, seen on all Lucas films over the years.
Just had to sit through Titanic
again! my missus is pregnant, so what she says, goes! at the moment lol
Jurassic park 9/10, the film still stands the test of time considering the advancements in computer technology, just realised how funny the film is, the first and only time I watched it was when I was about 10 and the scene where the lawyer gets eaten by the t-rex off the loo was scary but now hilarious.
