I recently started watching his films I saw Kickboxer and double impact and I heard Bloodsport was another similar film I love the music from it by Stan Bush
The Nun 3/10 - the latest movie in the conjuring universe has received mixed reviews but i decided to see it anyway and came away very disappointed. The story is virtually nonexistent, it lacks real tension and there are far too many jump scares, most of which are telegraphed so they fail to have any real impact.
Not gonna win awards for film or plot of year, but you want a 80’s style action with blood and guts. I have the blu ray steel books to all three films plus a directors cut of the first film too.
Tomb Raider (2018)
4/10
I was really looking forward for this one they tried to make it like the new rebooted games and they succeeded in making it look like them but plot wise the game is much better
Alicia Vikander is miscast for the role she looks like the new game version but she just doesn't pull off the role
But on the positive side towards the end there are some great action sequences.
It had potential but overall it didn't work
Aneesh Chaganty's directorial debut stars John Cho.Superb as single dad David, who finds out that his daughter has disappeared and turns internet detective in order to find her.Following her online profile and activity and seeing a side to her that he never even knew.Although its quite often uncinematic in scope, the googling,Facebooking,Facetiming segments were designed to send a clear message about the effect that technology meant to bring people together is in some cases, distancing people beyond repair.
In a future society where books are banned and burned, a fireman begins to read in secret and discovers an underground rebellion committed to protecting literature.
Loved It!!!!
8/10
A wonderfully bleak adaptation of George Orwell's novel starring John Hurt as a fascist drone Winston Smith alongside Richard Burton(in has last role)as oppressive insider O'Brien. The first act of the film explores a very British kind of suffering as Winston undergoes a political awakening only to then engage in a devastating battle of wills.Hurt and Burton put in the finest performances of their legendary careers.
The film was fantastic I really enjoyed it not been to the cinema for a long long time the story of the hatton garden heist Michael Caine still making top films at 85!
Saw this last week Tuesday but got round to reviewing it but first it I think its mixed bag.
First of all its direacted by Shane Black who was in the first movie and played Hawkins and helped with writing the script and also did the Lethal Weapon movies with scripts, directed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang awesome movie, Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys. Now the film does follow on from the first two movies but to my knowledge Predators isn’t mentioned. Anyway let’s staet off with the positives:
When the special effects are great there great. There’s good chemistry with cast members and when the humour works it works. The action and death scenes were great when they kick off so for that part it’s enjoyable.
Now the negatives and there’s a lot of them in places the CGI is dodgy and you can clearly see it’s bad. There’s a too much humour with all the characters so it’s like there all trying to funny when I think they shook have focused on one of characters being the comic relief in the first film it worked when one of them is being funny.
The edits are really bad it feels like they cut certain scenes too quickly or scenes out so certain things make no sense or there not explained. There’s some thing with the normal predator which makes no sense again no spoilers, the kid does something fucked up but there’s no consequence for what he does which was dumb. Someone dies again no spoilers but what happens is not only dumb and makes no sense but there’s a really really bad edit so kind blink and can mess it. It felt like they kinda forgot to kill off the crew then realise then bam. The stuff with the predator dogs really dumb and final act of the film felt spliced together now this was to do with the fact they totally refilmed the last third of the movie and original version was totally different involved other predators and was far more interesting. The ending was bland and sets up the sequel. The over all issues are badly edited together, a huge chunk of reshoot parts of film which for me ruined it, things are never explained and no Consequences for certain actions something tells me the studios interfered oh the forced use of Arines classic lines. I loved the first Predator film and didn’t mind Predator 2 King Willy stole the show there lol and didn’t mind Predators. Disappointing film but action scenes, death scenes and blood and gore save the film a little.
