Empire Of The Ants(1977)

A toxic spill(isn't it always)turns ordinary ants into huge, intelligent, rampaging monsters, hellbent on conquering humanity.Another Bert I.Gordon trashing of an H.G.Wells story.

5/10
Superman The Movie - The Expanded Edition, the film that kicked started the super hero films can't decide which is my fav the first one or the second one (The Richard Donner Cut). The Expanded Edition is the best version of it watch and I love at the end of film he flies towards the screen smiles and flies off classic always brings a warm smile to my face and it looks stunning on Blu Ray 9.6/10.

Superman 2 the Richard Donner cut is my personal fave Superman movie, but I agree the first one is very good. No one beats Christopher Reeve as Superman for me.
13 Assassins (2010) A group of samurai join forces to kill a cruel, despotic Shogun's brother. This is rather in the manner of Seven Samurai. The first hour plus is an absorbing, interesting take on the life and system of honour of a samurai, intelligently scripted, well acted with excellent cinematography. It does lose its way a bit in the last third, with an overlong, far fetched though well filmed sword battle. Starring Koji Yakusho,Yuseke Iseya & Gogo Inagaki 6.5/10
Christopher Reeve was my Superman too that's the one I grew up with you try it believed with him a man could fly. All tho he is my fav Superman I still like the other people that have or are playing him like with Bond you can have a fav Bond but still like the other versions of him actors get old or don't wanna do it any more or die and eventually they have to be replaced.
Robot Jox(1989)

Stuart Gordon directed this sci fi film set fifty years after World War Three. In this post nuclear dystopia, the two remaining superpowers settle their disputes by having trained athletes drive gigantic robots in death matches. The script is very silly but there is fun to be had,the stop motion animation(or mecha animé)as it was later called is very good in places and Gary Graham does his best in the lead role despite the script's shortcomings.Overall,it was just too ambitious for the very modest budget it was made with.

Suicide Squad, wanna get somethings out the first is it as bad as the critics have been saying no, is the perfect no. The problem with the DC films is that there movies made for the fans of comics for example the film is pretty much a spot on version of its comic book counter with a little bit of the DC 52 influence across the the film, I would say it's as dark as BvS but where it's different is that it's lot lot funnier then that film by a mile. People are used to the Marvel films which quite rightful have been successful and have a winning formula that's why they can make film about a character that most people haven't heard of yet still the movie. DC's approach is more serious, gritty and realistic in tone which there's nothing in that it's like having two buddy cop movies like Rush Hour played for laughes and all out comedy but then you have lethal weapon does have humour but way more serious with violence and it's more gritty.
Now I wanna get the negatives out the way first, it still might not be people's cup of tea because it's dark even with the rumours of to film being tone it is violent. It suffer's the same problem with most movie villains does a decent job but your not gonna remember all tho it does follow comics version very closely. As you know the Joker isn't in it much but for I was happy with the screen time as he wasn't the main part if film it was to give us a taste of the new version of him. The music may not be everyone's cup of tea but I liked it and felt it suited the film, a couple characters are disposable and you don't get much back story and the first 20 mins is used to set up the back story of the characters but once that's out of the way it's fine. Finally the action is very fast paced and may not go well with some.
The positives the main cast were fantastic Will Smith was great as Deadshot, you believed he was bad, funny and because of his backstory you felt for him. Margot Robbie was great as Harley Quinn not only did she look the part but was totally nuts again you learn more of her backstory which makes you see her as human but only for a while, Batman animated fans will see a little nod to cartoon there is a reason why she doesn't do the same voice which Margot explained in a interview and made perfect sense. Viola Davis was amazing again spot on like her comic counter part and a nasty piece of work. Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag great along with Karen Kukuhara as Katana exactly like her comic counter part even more then the Arrow version.
Jared Leto for the time he was on screen he was creepy I liked he was different to other versions of him most people don't realise his based on the 1940's version of character looking forward to seeing more of him and if we see a directors cut of the film with more of him touch wood.
Jay Hernandez fantastic as Diablo you found out a big reveal with him which makes really feel sorry for him. Adewale Akinnouoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc great in the film didn't say much but when he did you laughed. I thought Cara Delevingne was as June Moone/Enchantress creepy as fuck but nothing special. Jai Courtney was funny as Boomrang probably for me his best film role. Adam Beach as Slipknot was ok nothing special.
What I liked was the film was it was much funnier then BvS, the chemistry with the cast which you could see even off camera and when there in interviews, what I also liked that despite them being bad guys you actually cared and felt sorry for them and characters had a lot of heart well with one of them not having any lol. The action was really good but could have been a little better, for me I enjoyed the music. This isn't a spoiler but Batman is in more then I thought he was a nasty piece what he does its likes you see Batman from the perspective of the bad guys so in a sense his the villain which I thought was clever. There is another cameo again most people probably know who if anyone wants to know just message me in PM.
Now what a lot of critics missed was who the real villain of film was which again am shocked they never spotted this and makes the villian of film all most nice in comparison baring in mind the film villian was average. If you've the comics you'll know who the villian of piece really was the only clue I'll give is Arrow but please don't post who. Overly all I liked it and enjoyed it, it could have done with a little tighter editing and better film villian but hey most films these days have issues with the main villian even the Marvel films well except the Netflix Marvel that's a totally different story "Kingpin" lol, but the real villian of piece makes up for it, as I said may not be everyone's cup of tea but I would say give a go and make up your own mind. There is a mid scene credit setting up a certain other film, sorry about the long review. 8.5/10.
^^
Very good review of Suicide Squad Kal-El. have already pre-ordered the HMV Exclusive Blu-Ray Steelbook for it, wouldn't surprise me if it does include a directors cut like Batman v Superman did on blu ray.

Last film I watched was the Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition which is a lot better than the theatrical edition that was released in cinemas. if you weren't keen on BvS after watching it before, you will like it better
Spy 7/10 entertaining comedy starring Melissa McCarthy
Bugsy Malone (1976) Its one thing to have an original idea, ie an all kid gangster musical, but another to carry it through, with authentic period detail, memorable songs, pretty decent performances and of course splurge guns! Alan Parker's film directorial debut, starring Scott Baio, Jodie Foster,Florrie Dugger,John Cassisi & Dexter Fletcher( his debut) 7/10
