Yeah,it never seems to get the credit it deserves.
Good to see other people appreciating it on here
Lemmy (2011) interesting documentary mostly covering Motorhead, but touching on Hawkwind and Rockin' Vickers too. Probably slightly overlong, some of the celebrity interviews could have been dropped 6.5/10
Skyfall.
Finally. Hadn't been that bothered about watching it after "Quantum". First time I'd seen it. Not improved by ad breaks every 10 minutes or so.
Bit with the villain in the glass cage is a bit Hannibal Lecter isn't it ? And he escaped disguised as a policeman as well.
And...I'm a bit dim : but Bond turns up to the villain's lair on an island miles away from the UK but can summon up reinforcements in a whole bunch of helicopters at just the right time just by turning on his wee radio a few minutes before he gets there .... but then when he's in Scotland ( no army bases anywhere near there right ?) and MI6 have tracked his car all the way there : they can't even send one lousy helicopter in time to help him deal with the bad guy's one shooting the hell out of his house ?
Because Bond was trying to M off the grid, he knew they would eventually find M but wanted to take out the bad guys on his own turf.
Private Peaceful (2012) absorbing, moving drama of life in a pre WW1 Devon village, finishing with scenes on the WW1 battlefield 7/10
It Follows (2014) this supernatural/horror film is a bit weird and takes awhile to get into, but its tone and music are both fairly eerie and the performances are pretty good, including the lead Maika Monroe 6.5/10
The Big Short - I'm not gonna pretend I understand it all,but the directing style made it much more accessible and entertaining. Good assemble cast too 7/10
9 (2009) Rag dolls battle a killing machine in a post apocalyptic world. Nice idea and animation, not special storyline 5.5/10
