I'm not gonna pretend to be a professional reviewer writing an essay, so I'll just say go watch it, it's a good film & you'll enjoy it if you're a fan of Disney.
Not only a classic film but ground breaking on its release and still holds up with the story and special effects the same can't be said about the sequels. Also the film looks stunning on Blu Ray.
A night club owner with a serious debt to some dangerous people has only one way of saving his nightclub, and that's by winning the celebrity death pool, which means his chosen celebrity David Hasselhoff has to die.
This film will win no Oscars but I found it very funny, The Hoff is excellent at sending himself up.
The Ones Below(2015) The relationship between two sets of expectant couples(Clemence Poesy & Stephen Campbell Moore and David Morrissey & Laura Birn) who are also neighbours becomes very tense. A thriller handicapped by some cliches and being rather far fetched but greatly enhanced by the top acting of the four leads. A pretty neat ending too. Also starring Deborah Findlay. 6.5/10
A decent sci-fi fantasy effort from director Alan Bridges flowing the fortunes of a British army unit on manoeuvres that encounter a threat from other world lifeforms that have landed on earth.Although dated in places, the good performances from Edward Judd,Yoki Tani and Valerie Gearson help it along nicely.
The Dark Mirror(1946) A doctor is murdered, one of identical twins, played by Olivia De Havilland is suspected, but which is guilty? A strong noirish crime drama which starts off slightly too jokingly but aided by an enjoyable script and plenty of watchable cod psychology, recovers well. This is helped by the acting of Lew Ayres as a psychiatrist, De Havilland's impressive differing roles as the twins and the ever excellent Thomas Mitchell as a police lieutenant. Also starring Charles Evans,Lester Allen & William Halligan. 7.5/10
Didn't think much of the first film but really enjoyed this one. Great opening sequence set the tone for the entire film. First time in ages I've laughed out loud during a film "I'm Mary Poppins y'all".
A War(Danish title Krigen) (2015) The problems faced by a Danish army commander in Afghanistan and his wife back home. A non showy, realistic feeling film distinguished by two fine lead performances from Pilou Asbaek and Tuva Novotny. Also starring Dar Salim and Duffi Al-Jabouri. 7/10
