Its Wonderful
Flatliners (2017);
Trying to fit in awkward work hours & a large weekly schedule of tv series all on at once (Flash,Arrow,Preacher,Walking Dead & others) makes fitting in time for films even more hard work (not enough hours in a day & all that).I managed to find time to watch this remake.
Anyway this Flatliners (2017)version is a loosely based remake of the cult 1990 version that featured Kiefer Sutherland,Julia Roberts & Kevin Bacon about a group of Trainee Medical Students who are intrigued on the concept of life-after-death experiences. This remake features the lovely Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries) as Marlo & Ellen Page as Courtney with the help of 3 other fellow students set out to discover what happens to the sub-conscious (memories & brain patterns) in those few short moments after death.Effectively that means each willing participant taking it in turns to temporarily euthanize themselves for a short space of time only to be brought back to life & relay their experiences in the afterlife.Whilst each of the participants involved at first experience a surreal out-of-body moment but soon it turns out that a much darker experience (a Pandora's Box) has been opened as with each participant starts experiencing terrible hallucinations & visions of terrible things they have encountered previously in their lives.Kiefer Sutherland who appeared in the original makes a cameo appearance as Doctor who is an unrelated character to the original.
I did rather like the original version of the film which compared to the remake feels a lot more darker & haunting compared to a lighter & a more CGI based feel of the remake. The remake is a pretty decent film in concept let down with a damp squib of an ending.5/10.
The Breadwinner(2018)
A wonderfully effective animation from Cartoon Saloon but much grittier than their pervious efforts. The story is set in Afghanistan circa 2001 and follows Parvana,a young girl out to find her father who has been falsely imprisoned by the Taliban.Certified as a 12 it does well to balance the tone between horror and hope without losing any of its charm.
8.5/10
Last Train from Gun Hill(1959)
A carefully crafted western from John Sturges starring Kirk Douglas in great form as a U.S Marshall out bring the men who raped and murdered his wife to justice. The grieving lawman is then conflicted to the point of agony when he discovers one of the men involved was an old friend, leading him into a reluctantly violent conclusion.
7.5/10
Tomorrowland A World Beyond
Starring George Clooney, pretty good movie and looos stunning on blu ray.
7.9/10.
A film by Christopher Nolan and starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine and more. Set in a dystopian future where Earths resources are running out and to ensure a possible future for mankind Matthew McConaughey's character must lead an expedition into the far reaches of space to search for a possible new home for mankind via a newly discovered wormhole.
The visuals in this film are excellent, it's got a great ensemble cast. I've seen this film twice now and it's just as good as it was the first time round. It's got elements of the films 2001 and Contact in it. Christopher Nolan has created some really great movies such as Inception and this is right up there as one of his best. Very enjoyable. 9/10.
Nobody Runs Forever(1968)
A taught action thriller from director Ralph Thomas that follows an Australian cop as he tracks a diplomat to London in order to apprehend him for murdering his first wife.Well shot and acted with a great cast including Christopher Plummer,Lili Palmer and Rod Taylor.

Paul
This film was bloody hilarious loads of Easter Eggs and references to Th Flash, Star Wars, Back To The Future and very famous line from Aliens said to Sigourney Weaver and twist at the end with a character.
Thereās a end credit scene where Simon Pegg says to Kristen Wig āI thought you was coming as Wonder Womanā who knew a few years later she would the villain in the sequel to Wonder Woman. Got the blu ray steel book to this film and itās beautiful.
9/10.
Peterloo(2018)
A meticulously put together political thriller from Mike Leigh that tells the story of Peterloo massacre that took place on August 16th 1819 at St.Peter's Field in Manchester, where 60,000 peaceful protesters ended up being set upon by the Salford Yeomanry and the 15th Hussars.Overly long and talky in places but Rory Kinnear puts in a performance of a lifetime as reformer Henry Hunt. With great support from Maxine Peak,Neil Bell,Phillip Jackson and Pearce Quigley.
8/10
Suspiria(2018)
This reimagining of Dario Argento's masterpiece from Luca Guadagnino is set in 1977(the year the original came out)and actually has few well executed nods and winks whilst hanging on to the same premise only this time it takes place in Berlin, under the shadow of the Wall. Not all of it works though and despite a great cast including Dakota Fanning,Tilda Swinton and Chloƫ Grace Moretz who are all in fine form,it simply can't touch the original and that renders it ultimately pointless.
