Lethal Weapon (1987)
Endlessly seen and always enjoyed. The original, possibly the best (debatable) but hugely exciting nontheless. Cop movies like this classic were all the rage in the 80s with people in to bloody, satire filled action thrillers and this delivers all those things in spades. For me Mel Gibson has never really had another defining role apart from Martin Riggs. 5/5
Rise of The Planet of the Apes!!
BUT iv had the new Apes film as a xmas present from my Brother so Its goona Be Dawn of the Planet of the Apes!
My god i grew up in the 70s (1967 baby) watching and loving planet of the apes!!
And like the saying go's HISTORY Repeats itself and what go's round comes around
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 6.9/10/
Dawn of the planet of the apes 8.5/10 very good sequel with amazing CGI.
Die Hard 10/10
Christmas classic!
By coincidence, there was an article in the Times today about a survey of quotable lines. The most recent that made the top 20 was "To infinity and beyond..." from a movie that is 20 years old. The implication being that movies aren't producing iconic lines of dialogue anymore.
Anyway, it was funny to read that after watching Die Hard for something like the 20th time. That whole movie is so infinitely quotable.
"Yippee kay yay, motherfucker..."
"Come out to the coast, we'll have a few laughs..."
"Welcome to the party, pal..."
And so on.
But having watched it again, I have to say that my favourite is still a non-Bruce Willis quote. After the roof explodes, taking the helicopter with it, when that numbskull of a police inspector just completely deadpans: "We're gonna need some new FBI guys".
I love that line!
The Holiday (2006)
Heartwarming, seasonal rom-com. Bit soppy but a guilty pleasure. I like it.
3/5
Predator 2 (1990)
Like the first one except a lot sillier bordering on stupid and generally not very good.
