In America (2002) A both sad and charming tale as a young Irish family start a new life in New York, excellent acting from Paddy Considine & Samantha Morton as the parents and real life sisters Emma & Sarah Bolger as their children, strong support from Djimon Hounsou. 7/10
Ash Wednesday (2002) a talky, dull gangster tale set in Hell's Kitchen in the 1980s, Edward Burns & Elijah Wood play brothers Burns is good, Wood unconvincing again. 4.5/10

The Dancer Upstairs (2002) - A police detective tracks down a guerilla leader in an unnamed Latin American country. A not stunningly interesting and at times, hard to follow film, despite the presence of the excellent Javier Bardem. Directed by John Malkovich. 5.5/10

The taking of pelham 123 7/10
I am a big fan of Denzil Washington but this isn't one of his best films. I think it starts OK but the ending seems rushed without much drama or suspense.
