Carve Her Name With Pride(1958) The true story of Violette Szabo a Special Operations Executive in France in WW2. Szabo is brilliantly portrayed by Virginia McKenna in a tense and touching film with good support from Paul Scofield, Jack Warner, Nicole Stephane, Maurice Ronet & Alain Saury 7/10
Escape to Athena(1979)

George P Cosmatos directed First Blood Pt II,Cobra and underwater flop,Leviathan. Long before his Stallone collaborations, the Z-movie maker with A-movie budgets at his disposal gave us this.Escape to Athena.Recalling the days of wartime Greece, circa 1944.The film is a wacky, lightweight death fest.Good looking but dumb. Its full of dead(and dying)Nazis. The icing on the cake is a 1970s dream team of miscast hams.Including,Sonny Bono as a cocky freedom fighter, brothel owner with bravery in spades Claudia Cardinals,Jewish grifter Elliott Gould,Nazi with a heart Roger Moore,British archeologist David Niven, sexpot Stephanie Powers, tough guy Richard Roundtree, leader Telly Savalas and sadistic Nazi scum Anthony Valentine. Very bad and stupid but, surprisingly watchable.Costmatos seemed to be saying,"Who knew that World War 2 could be so much fun?."

6/10
L.A. Confidential 9/10 a superb film noir style movie chronicling corruption in 1950s Los Angles, featuring an all star cast with stand out performances from Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce and Kim Basinger. This really should of won the best film oscar and not Titanic.

I'm 100% in agreement.

Wink You missed out Grange Hill's Mr Bronson as the Nazi who gets over-excited during Stephanie Powers striptease act, to the famous eyebrow-lifting school of acting of disapproval of his commander.laugh

Good spot,I should have definitely mentioned the late, great Michael Sheard.Smile
Fantastic Four (2015), you have a great cast and a good director and what you get is one big mess. The first few mins start alright then it's down hill from there, there's no sense of chemistry with the actors first of all Johnny and Sue don't even act like brother and sister yeah there a different race and she's adopted which I have totally no problem with that change but they could made it believable that there brother and sister. The Doom character totally wasted and his powers were all over the place one min his totally powerful the next min his not then his got totally new set of powers it's almost as if they couldn't make up there mind what they wanted to do with him nothing like the comic character at all and where did he get the cloth robe from on the planet which is never explained.
The one year jump served no purpose and left a lot blanks as to what happened leaving a lack of character development and plot and the final battle was lacklustre and how they get there name. Over it was boring and bland and dare I say this if prefer the previous two fantastic four films all tho not great there more enjoyable then this. I don't know what they were thinking with the body horror stuff, it's explained how they can breath on that planet and there's many other plot holes. We do know that a lot was cut from original cut of the film: 3.5/10.
Vicar Of Bray(1937)

After being forced to leave his poor,Irish parish. The Vicar finds himself in the Royal Court in London to personally tutor Charles I's young son.Brilliantly acted by Stanley Holloway.

7.5/10
The Mask Of Fun Manchu(1932)

Charles J.Brabin directed an absolutely brilliant Boris Karloff as a lisping Fu Manchu in this lavish and delirious MGM production. Also featuring Myrna Loy in inspired form as Far Lo See,the nymphomaniac daughter of Fun Manchu.

I have only seen this film the once and it is fantastic miles better than titanic.

Rambo 2008 8/10 Unlike Balboa this sets up a final Rambo film before it moves to the small screen on Fox. Sly Stallone is very underrated writer and director. I think Hollywood and us normal people not the critics have realised that Sly Stallone is damn good at what he does. I wonder if he got the idea for the expendables while writing this film about a team of mercs. The village scene is the most horrific scenes I seen in film or tv.
