Dark Knight Rises 10/10 This gets better each time I see it. Having watched all three fairly recently I have to say this is my favourite. Heath Ledger was outstanding in the 2nd movie, no denying but this film is all about closure rather than Batman v a villain. While Ledger rightly gets the plaudits for The Joker, Tom Hardy gives a very good understated performance as Bane, while Christian Bale successfully concludes an embittered and scarred Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Man Of Steel fantastic reboot of the superman franchise. liked how after the initial start on krypton the film then mainly was in the present day with the flashbacks to clark/jor-el growing up brilliantly worked into the story to show how he became superman and why he is like he is. agree it doesn't feel like a film that is over 2 hours long and also the special effects are amazing as was the action set pieces that happened, especially the final battle between superman and general zod the ending of which is controversial but that didn't bother me
henry cavil makes a very good superman, amy adams is a good lois lane, kevin Costner and diane lane are very good as Martha and jonathan kent and Michael Shannon is very good as general zod and compared very well to Terence stamp's genral zod in superman II
Halo: Forward unto Dawn. 6/10 Better than I expected but lacking a big enough budget to make it into a big enough movie. If viewed as the pilot to a new series you would class it as being promising but sadly it isn't. In a similar category to the Battlestar Galactica pilot. 343 Industries, the makers of Halo 4 are behind the venture and the visualisation of the aliens and Master Chief are excellent if a little brief, again down to budget. At £8 for a blue ray it's worth a look.
Man of Steel 10/10. Awesome film. Already been some reviews so no point boring people Only criticism was that it was a little disjointed in literally just a couple of places but guessing the extended blu-ray will deal with that matter. Loved the ending.
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. 7.5/10. A fun, gore filled romp from the MTV stable. Much better than I expected and a welcome relief from the Wimbledon fever that's currently rampant throughout the BBC.
