John Carter
After the disappointment of Battleship (Just my opinion) I wasn't holding out for this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised,I really enjoyed this.
A nice musical score, good audio & special effx's and unlike Battleship I warmed to the characters especially the Jedak,Tars Tarkas/Willem Dafoe,& the comedy weren't bad either
8/10 Enjoyable.
Argo. A really enjoyable movie based around the setting up of a fake movie called Argo, set up by the CIA and designed to send a fake film crew (CIA) into revolutionary Iran in 1980 to free US hostages. Based on a true story 9/10.
Never been a fan of the Oscars but I have to say this deserves them
Classic line "So why are you calling the film Argo?......Argo fuck yourself"

Gosford Park (2001)
Oscar winning period drama which gives a fascinating and funny take on the masters and servants era of early 20th century England. One of the many ensemble drama films that Robert Altman was nominated for the best director oscar. Some laugh out loud moments and the likes of Alan Bates, Stephen Fry, Maggie Smith, Emily Watson and Richard E Grant with memorable roles. 3/5
Oz : The Great And Powerful
Just seen the early showing in imax 3d and it sounds and looks glorious. James Franco is very good in the role of Oscar Diggs and the three female leads, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz all look beautiful. The lavish sets, and fun characters, make this a fun filled feast for the eyes magical romp. 8/10
On The Beach (1959)
Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire and Anthony Perkins lead the cast in an emotional drama based on Neil Shute's novel about coming to terms with the end. The warnings of the consequences of atomic war are transmitted subtly and cleverly, without the trauma. Films in the 50s were memorable for the actor's performances rather than blood and guts. All the stars make the scenario very believable. 3/5
Serenity: 10/10. Never tire of this movie. Based on the very underrated tv series Firefly.
Starship Troopers: 8/10 Still holds up well though a good remake would not go amiss.
Based on a 1950's novel by classic sci fi author Robert Henlein. Not a film to be taken too seriously but again always enjoyable. The sequel was ok in a tv movie sort of way but stay well clear of the very dodgy third movie whoa!!
