Terminator Dark Fate (Non-Spoiler)
Saw this two weeks ago now it’s been said that it’s the best in the series since T2 which technically is true but for all the wrong reasons as the other films weren’t great so let’s start with the positives first:
There’s a great cast it’s so good to have Linda Hamilton back as Sarah Connor, Arnie as always is great but there is negative element, the one that surprised me was Mackenzie Davis as Grace she was really good along with Gabriel Luna as new Terminator was great, the action set pieces along with de-aging scenes were very impressive. Now for the plot it’s nothing new someone sends a terminator back in time to kill someone and someone is sent back to protect the person being killed.
The negatives they do something very shocking in the first 10 mins of the movies which is basically a big fuck your to the Terminator 1 and especially T2, once you see that scene you can’t see those films in the same light again which undermines them now. I get why they wanna reboot the franchise for new generation but what about that the fans of it, secondly they wanna reboot the franchise but the biggest issue the with the movie is it’s a case of deja-vu namely they’ve taken bits from all the over Terminator films and mean all of them with spoiling anything. The new lead Dani was ok nothing special and felt under written especially with her reveal. The Arnie terminator all tho was good there’s a lot plot holes with things that aren’t explained with his character let’s just say it’s certain things that Kyle explains to Sarah in Terminator 1. All tho new terminator is great it just feels like the female T-X from Terminator 3. The film has pacing issues where one min it’s action packed then slows down again then it’s rinse and repeat. I felt it was too CGI in places all tho it was great seeing Sarah Connor again she acts very different all tho it’s understandable why but they make her a little too bitter and unlikable. As I was saying about the film being a case of deja-vu things are like the previous movies right down to the ending. There are a couple sjw moments and little hints towards men being made fun of but it’s too much thank god. As I said earlier is the best Terminator film since T2 yeah but it’s not saying much. Personally I think they should have left it at T2. With Salvation out of all the films was trying to be different, the franchise if it can be saved needs the horror elements from the first film and they need work more character development which i really wished they made more of a effect in fleshing out some of characters development. Changing around certain things and renaming certain things don’t make the movie fresh but with seen it all before that’s it’s biggest issue.
