Drive Angry 6/10 As usual with any Nicholas Cage movie I approached this with some caution but it was actually quite decent in a tongue in cheek way, never taking itself seriously. It just needed someone liked Tarantino at the helm to have given it that cult, cool look.
Godzilla vs King Ghidorah:
It kinda makes me sad that monster movies like this, with guys in rubber suits on miniature sets, are a dying art.
The Great Gatsby (2013) - 4/10 - Gave this 4 purely for the visuals and for the director trying to do something different but disappointingly I really didn't like this film. I thought the over stylized look and editing was jarring and the use of modern music (as directed by my personal God Jay Z!) really didn't work for me despite me liking the look of the soundtrack before I saw the film
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, its actually a really good fun film and Jim Carrey is a total nut case in the film 8/10.
Star Trek: Into Darkness. 8/10 Gave this another airing and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Karl Urban annoys me a little though. The other cast members capture the spirit of the original crew, while at the same time making the roles their own. He simply takes it too far and needs to back off a little. Best line of the movie is when Kirk says to him, "...and lay off with the constant metaphors". Could not agree more as I get the feeling I am watching him spoof DeForest Kelley's original McCoy, rather than him actually playing the role. Other than that a great movie.
Doubt (2008)
Philip Seymour Hoffman and Meryl Streep are both outstanding as the priest and nun who have differing views of how a catholic school should be run. His positivity is countered by her suspiciousness in a film that pulls at the emotional strings and gives you plenty to think about. Amy Adams and Viola Davis co-star. 3/5
Robocop 2014, it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be but still not a patch on the original one, the good parts of the film were the actors they were all good in there roles, i loved the fact the story was different from the original and not just a full copy, special effects were great too especially in the more gruesome scenes and there were some decent action pieces too. I loved the fact they concentrated on Alex's family especially his wife and son. I loved the nod to the original film score too which was a nice touch and Sam L Jackson at the end of it was funny. The stuff i didn't like was there was real proper bad guy in the movie, what i liked about the original is there was so many bad characters that you loved to hate and you truly believed that they were evil, didn't like the use of rock music during the fight scenes would have just preferred a movie score, the ending the final showdown was lacksture and just felt like a anti climax, in parts it was a little slow paced and would liked a little more action and there was a little too much of Robocop fighting other robots probably due to 12A rating. What i liked about the original was the satire which still holds up today especially with the things that are still going on in this world today and still hold true. I liked how Robocop in the original starts off as machine and slowly gets back his humanity and you slowly start to see it as voice changes from being robotic to human and chairman of OCP asks his name he turns round and in human voice says Murphy and ends like that perfect till they fucked it up in Robocop 2, there are touches of that in the reboot but its done as well but i did like how he over came his machine side. All in all enjoyed the movie and i really do hope they make a sequel and keep the same director too 6.9/10
Finally, the return of 'Shit Film Night'....(please bear in mind scores/comments are given with addition of beers and mates ready to rip the piss out of watched films)
Big Assed Spider - 7/10 - One of the more decent creature features we've watched, doesn't take itself too seriously and the CGI is actually not bad. Genetically bred spider escapes, grows and kicks LA's ass
Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark - 3/10 - The plot is quite literally the title, one of the worst 'shit' films we've watched, bar about 10 minutes towards the end where everything just seemed to fall apart into farce (cue a motor cross jump that ANY Redbull Big Air or X Games rider would sell their Granny to complete lol) and we laughed till it hurt
Everything or Nothing, not really a film more of documentary, its really great to watch and gives a great insight into James Bond a must watch if your a Bond fan 9/10.
