He et Jean-Paul, I believe. One of Channel 4's most intelligent shows.

Like the report says - its mainly a response to the uncertainty surrounding the referendum (and another misleading scare tactic from the Stay campaign).

The quoted sources don't say investors fear that we'll leave the EEC anymore than it doesn't say investors fear that staying in the EEC will lead us to adopt the Euro (leaving aside the reporters & Osbornes bias)

I think whats more important to understand is that this money was invested in the British £ and NOT the Euro, which is weak and permanently on the verge of massive recession due to the variable way other EEC members, and the Commission, manage their economies and their debt.
And when they say its being invested in other currencies, we can pretty much guarantee that doesn't include the Euro or they would have said it.

Once a decision is made, In or Out, and stability returns we should expect much of the investment to return as long as we retain the £...
Although in the long term, if we stay in it will be very difficult to resist full fiscal union.

Some interesting reading here for those on both sides of the debate that are interested:

There may be recession if we leave, there may be recession if we stay, I'll even go as far as to say that whatever we do, at some point there WILL be recession - its an economic cycle all economies go through - growth, stagnation, decline - happened many times before, will happen many times again, although imo we'll be better equipped to manage it if we have control of our own economy.

But like I've said before - this referendum isn't about the economy - thats just a tactic from the Stay campaign to scare us - this referendum is about retaining our Sovereignty and Independence.
this misterG knows what they are talking about.

'My British cyhums' - flash back. Big Grin
Wonder if Boris pulled the plug on the goverment website at 10pm to stop people registering to vote before the 12am deadline

And there was me thinking it was a misleading scare tactic from the Leave campaign laugh

Nah, it's about grooming the next leader of the Conservative Party Rolleyes
Or you could say that Cameron's performance was so bad it lead to the surge on the site
dont think cameron wants to continue trying everything to lose this and when it goes tits up can blame boris and gove.

hopefully they will put the deadline back 24-48 hours can see there being a backlash if they dont tbh

my 'referendum' mind says 'no, this isnt about personalities - we're not electing a pm - its far more important' (which it is)

but unfortunately you may be right & whatever the outcome that clown could be leader of the tories at some point...

what a sad indictment of the modern 'style over substance' approach to government if Trump ends up in the Whitehouse & Johnson at no10 - there'd be a lot to talk about but the world could be a scarier & much less fair place...
After hearing that Dave waffled too much and Farage was too defensive last nigh, I'm now wondering how many aren't simply going to bother voting Farage simply dodged the migration question like it was an issue he wasn't comfortable talking about.

I wonder how true it is that Pro Euro MP's can get the result overturned if we vote to leave so we stay in? Has Dave always maintained that whatever the decision we make as the Brisitsh people, he'll accept it?
