(09-06-2016 14:02 )SecretAgent Wrote: [ -> ]Brexit have claimed repeatedly that Turkey are on the verge of joining the EU and that 80 million of them will head this way. Its an example of the lies and fear tactics on immigration being put out there by Brexit. All EU members have a veto on a new country's accession into the EU. Do you seriously think Cyprus will vote for Turkey to come in? Turkey is decades away from membership.

80 million are on this way? Do you have anything to back this up? becasue I've never seen such a claim, on this leaflet, it says that is the population of these countries, not that they are all coming here, it does imply that ALL of their citizens will have the right to live where they want in the EU and more migration will take place, which pretty much will be a fact.

Even I have notice a lot of people from abroad living here, and I mean a lot, 2 or 3 years ago there was none.

This isn't make believe, this is happening.

What we do not know, is the effects on the economy, will all these people be paying all the taxes and making Britian even richer as the ins will have it, or are they finantial migrants looking to drain the economey as the outs would have it; the reality is probably it will be a bit of both and it will balance it's self out eventually.

You have to question though, where are all these jobs coming from when Britian is still in a recession and there was relatively high umemployement before the extra peps arrived.

I said right from the get go, I know jack shit about politics. This is why i ask and question statments an assumptions; if I was a know it all I wouldn't be here.

But you agreed with what they have written.
(09-06-2016 14:06 )wackawoo Wrote: [ -> ]Trouble is with trade, I suspect it's such a complex thing

Ok now I see you've realised international trade is complex. That's progress. The point is that trade within the EU is much easier because trade barriers have been broken down. If we exit then yes we will still trade but will there be trade tariffs where today there are none? What additional documentation will be required to move British goods across EU borders? That all adds cost to British Exporters which makes them less competitive. Oh and the standards which those goods have to attain will still be the same or they won't be allowed in the EU so no savings there and no influence on those standards either

Of course in a Brexit situation we could eventually negotiate trade deals with other countries but all the experts say (including the head of the World Trade Organistation) that this will not be easy and will take a long time.

By the way I don't see that Brexit have yet shown their costings for the border controls that will be required between NI & Eire and presumably between Scotland & England if Brexit leads to Scotland leaving the Union.

Brexit had this poster and claimed that as we had no control over our borders they would be heading to the UK

It's an outrageous scare tactic of the worst kind. Oh and just to correct you the UK is not in recession & has not been for many years

Exactly you would have thought Leave would have learned from how SNP lost the Scottish Indy ref by not coming up with an coherent plan about what an independant scotland would look like.

actually watched Major and B-liar in Northern Ireland at lunchtime today talking to northern irish students and have to say was good and very convincing arguments for staying in

Leave wont even say if they will replace the free movement for irish citizens by going back to the old Common Travel Area that had been in place since the 1920's that was superceeded when Ireland and the UK joined EEC on same day in the 1970's

Cameron's made a right balls up of this election.

All he's achieved is dividing the country. And it will take a long time to fix. Both inside and outside parliament.
