You can't have it both ways.

Ah, a conspiracy theory Cool I knew we were missing something from this thread.

Who is being blackmailed? And how?

Well you can, bladewave I'm sure the rest of the world has trade links with Europe, without being in Europe, to me that's a no brainer.

France and Germany mainly, has as been shown on here with some nordic countries. You'd need to go back and find the links.

If you think we'll be able to restrict imports to protect our industries, and still expect unrestricted trade the other way, you need to get a reality check.

Where did I say anything about restricting imports? Or are you having a debate with yourself and claiming it's me?

It's simple, america, china, tiawan, Japan etc, ALL trade with Europe, and I'm pretty sure it will be a two way gig - I'm sure plenty of the ol' wine will be a bought from France all around the world; why then would Britian be any different? Is not even part of mainland Europe it's seperated by a sea, it might be on the same tectonic plate, but so is india and china. Britian is a vastly different place to mainland Europe in it's culture, style, mindset.

I never said anything about protecting industry, my whole point has been, why can't the trade that is going on now, go on in or out of Europe? If company a from Britian is buying product b Fance and c from Germany buying d from the UK, why would this suddenly stop out of Europe?

To me this seem to be the most obvious question, so obvious it's painfull. It's already been suggested that if trade stayed the same, and britian was out, then she would indeed be better off finantially. Nobody, including you, has given any good reason why trade would fall apart; unless France and Germany decided to put that much costums, import tax on our prodcuts or charge that much for them that it would make it finantially cheaper to buy elsewhere, and that is the black mail i have ben speaking of.

We used to trade before 1971 or so, in fact there was a point we were world leaders without being in europe. When did we become the critically dependant on other countries? For our very survival if a lot would be to believed.
