I think his plan was to always hold an election after October 31st, if he gets no deal then it cuts the legs off the Brexit Party, and like with UKIP a single issue party is finished when that issue gets resolved, if no deal Brexit happens on the 31st then the Brexit party are more or less meaningless and they will likely collapse, just as UKIP did

If he said he wasn't in favour of proroguing Parliament, then WHY THE FUCK did he change his mind and did so? I can see Corbyn again forcing a vote of no confidence motion and if he wins Johnson's administration will be toast BEFORE 31st Oct. I have a horrible fear of the Corbyn nightmare is going to come true on 31st Oct.
Southsidestu is correct, Boris never ruled out proroguing parliament, when asked and was given the opportunity to rule it out he never took it so I think he always intended to play that card
Ruth Davidson to resign as leader of Scottish Conservatives, she says it is not in relation to the proroguing news but for other reasons both personal and political that have accumulated over recent months, which is bullshit because if that was the case she wouldn't of announced it today
Ruth Davidson, reinvigorated the Tories fortunes in Scotland and was seen by many as the Tory that non-voting Tories could actually vote for, a rising star and a big hitter within the party. Of course in these times this will have no real impact, we are so polarised over Brexit that it will just be seen as necessary collateral damage on the road to the sunlit uplands especially as most Tory members say that they would rather lose the Union that not have Brexit delivered
This is bad news for The Tories under Johnson though we have a parliamentary democracy where we are supposed to elect local politicians who then look to form a majority, we'd be getting ourselves if we said we didn't have a Presidential style democracy where we elect our local MP based on the parties leader. This will no doubt mean a loss of most of their gains in Scotland at the last election, going back down to Panda numbers and moving The Tories further away from the 326 seats needed to form a majority
With the Lib Dems and The Brexit Party looking to take seats of both the main parties I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with another hung parliament at the next election with neither The Torie or Labour able to command a majority in parliament
Ruth Davidson is resigning because she cant stand that Old Etonian cunt Johnson and his cabal, plain and simple, and i don't blame her.
Today showed one truism. Parliament is not sovereign, and the PM - of whatever colour - can essentially do as he/she pleases!! Dangerous...really Dangerous!!
For all the vitriol being directed at 'Mr Speaker' he is only seeking to ensure that Parliament IS INDEED/and remains sovereign, and that it can do the job it is charged with doing!! I personally thought filibustering, and programme motions (guillotines) was as bad as it could get. This is infinitely worse!!
We can only hope (and I say this reluctantly given the likely occupant of No.10 afterwards), the Conservative backbenchers who stand against No Deal, have the courage of their convictions, and vote against Johnson in any confidence vote! The Conservative government's 'Foundations' propping them up should not think that they will necessarily be welcomed on the doorsteps while canvassing in any general election to follow either....not in this house at least!! Don't believe in 'sitting on one's hands' and not voting - we are all fortunate to be free to vote - (although that freedom - I accept - extends to choosing to NOT VOTE), but even I have started - with local factors at play also - to think 'why bother'
Likelihood is I will do though, in any election to follow. Even to show my lack of patience now!
They all are responsible for this, Johnson may have been the only one stupid/arrogant enough to pull the trigger, but the fact we are in this position in the first place is the fault of every member of parliament, they let the referendum happen, they allowed and then voted for to trigger article 50, they then couldn't work out something that was fair and reasonable in the way of a deal, and the idiots then allowed the blonde lie machine to become PM.
The most important thing I've learned from this mess is to never trust a politician, the leavers feel betrayed by those who don't want to follow through with brexit, the remainers feel betrayed because the referendum was won on lies and manipulation and we are all being screwed by this latest move. Brexit has always been a terrible idea, but the possibility of no deal, which nobody voted for and parliament doesn't want, being forced upon us by an unelected PM, with no mandate or real majority, is the stupidest thing that's likely gonna happen in our lifetimes...until something even more stupid happens, probably.
Who would have thought the UK would be falling into such a mess
