You shouldn't judge people. As said before, I know jack diddly about politics and I keep away from it as much as humanly possible, I think I voted in general elections two or three times.
With it being such a big issue I decided to pay attention and look into it - and it's been a major eye opener
If, I'd have seen any where that being in Europe was a real good thing for Britian (and I don't mean scare mongering tactics) I would have resumed my old habit of paying no attention to politics and let others sort it all out; I wouldn't have voted. I have not seen anything when you delve into it, and no answers have come forth to my very simple questions.
Some one mentioned being offended about people dying on both sides of the war. But millions DID die on both sides, and they died (especially in WW2) so one country did not have control over other countries, a thing so bad with the British empire (I've even seen the Roman empire being mentioned in support of europe)
.
Even in Europe Britain would only be one against the rest, to think Britian being in Europe would give them more sway would be nonsense because they will always be out voted over critical issues. It's quite clear that Germany has the sway of everthing and France wants to muscle in on that, these two will always side against UK when needed.
To think a few mainly older, none UK, men, UNELECTED by the British public, sat around a desk in Brussels dictating what the entire population should do in the UK (even if those people in the UK do not want the directives), is funamentally wrong. Not only is it far from democracey it is autocracy in disguise.
Trying to make Europe into same form of one nation like the USA wouldn't work either. European countries, peoples, languages and cultures are vastly different, most have been at war on and off for a thouasnds of years and more. USA are all Americans, they may have various ancestry, but they are Americas, in the same way that imigrants after a generation or two are British - Europeans will ALWAYS be vastly different. Nor would a 'united states of Europe' prevent future wars, even Britian and America had civil wars.
Each sovereign state should be exactly that, to govern itself with no interferance from any other country over any internal affairs, other than that is fundamentally wrong, ironically the reason why a lot in Scotland and Northern Ireland want the UK fracturing - there's a lesson there i think.
