America and indeed many countries around the world appear more divided than ever. The two party system in the US is bad enough in principle.
In practice though it is even worse because the Democrats are lurching further to the left while the Republicans are seemingly hurtling further to the right.
I rather suspect that Trump and his loony bin band of conspiracy theorists are behind such an unforgiving shift to right wing ideology that so many US voters have stupidly bought into.
The trouble is now that the conspiracy theorists are absolutely fucking everywhere and spreading poison all over the shop usually via the social media platforms.
They dress it up as anti establishment and power to the people sentiment when in fact it is just misguided nonsense.
I just despair.
Finding myself gripped and fascinated by the farcical goings on in the House of Representatives Speakers election.
A small faction of the Republicans seem intent on blocking Kevin McCarthy becoming Speaker. 7 rounds of voting so far.
Deadlock. The Democrats want Hakeem Jeffries to get the position but as the Republicans have a majority in the House of Representatives this is seemingly very unlikely.
Just to muddy the waters further Republican Matt Gaetz has stood up declaring a nomination for Donald Trump as Speaker.
It's all very interesting but also incredibly ridiculous
.
Well it just goes to show that this self appointed tag of 'the greatest democracy' - along with exceptionalism - is the biggest load of crap!!
While the U.S - maybe less under Biden?? - adopts this lecturing, posturing stance to the rest of the world, they - and this is manifest in community relations as a whole, through the storming of the capital - the riots that followed, and also with this speaker stand - off - are showing that - just like every other country - they have profound problems across the board also!
I have to say that, given all that, this 'gridlock' is really rather amusing on a level to bare witness too!
I had recorded some months ago, A CNN report on the way Covid had been mishandled throughout the time Trump was in office (including his crack - pot solutions - Bleach.....go on take it - it will work) which I only got around to watching today!! The manner in which he and his looney tune henchmen in the govt at the time tried to push aside, contradict and decry the expertise of Dr Anthony Fauci and others, means he has a lot to answer for (just as with BOJO etc) with some of what they had to put up with - until they each in turn had had enough, being reprehensible!!
Just hope that Trump as speaker thing dont become a thing means he would become 3rd in line sucession just needs some MAGA lot to take out Biden and Kamala and then he would be sworn in basically a coup

I love this.
Thanks to his great supporter, Matt Gaetz, we can add this to the list of elections that Trump has lost lol
After twelve rounds of voting McCarthy is edging closer to his new and current target of 216 votes.
He received 213 after persuading some Republican rebels to support him.
On to round 13 we go
.
Finally resolved after a series of concessions, confrontations in the chamber and 15 rounds of voting. Kevin McCarthy won the race to become Speaker amidst chaotic scenes.
At least Trump dkidn't win
We don’t yet know what concessions he made though. It’s entirely possible that this august body of 400 legislators is now hostage to 5 far right nut jobs.
Fifteenth times the charm
If there is anyone with a more punchable face than Matt Gaetz i haven't seen him, i would of respected the shithousery on the coward McCarthy if it wasnt from that Trump loving Beavis
