Looks like the State Department and Defence Department have had some influence with Trump on the Qatar position. Yesterday he was claiming success on his Islamist terrorist stance when The Saudis and others cut diplomatic ties with Qatar. Now it seems he's spoken to the Saudis and encouraged dialogue. I suspect Tillerson & Mattis have reminded him that the biggest US base in the region is in Qatar and they are very rich.

This story is appearing in lots of places :

Suggestion is that Trump was particularly pissed when Jeff Sessions excused himself from the whole Russia investigation. Seems Trump had him down as his wing-man in there, but with him gone, the investigation took a life of it's own, outside his control.
As for the Qatar thing, I haven't really followed it, and can't claim to really understand what is behind it all, but it just seems odd to me that suddenly these countries are ganging up on Qatar.
Can't help wondering if there is some 'influence' on this, so as to distract attention from the real bad guy, Saudi Arabia. Make someone else the patsy for all the shit in the world, then we can all (both US and UK in particular) keep selling arms to the big bad, and turn a blind eye to their own links with extremism.
They'll build this up as being explosive testimony and then nothing major is revealed

They should have impeached him the minute the Russian links were revealed, bloody hell I wonder how much of his millions was spent on Russia winning the 2018 World Cup? If there was a stitch up on that bidding process (as we have always suspected there was at the time) and if could be proved that the dodgy bid has his money linked into it, we & FIFA were well and truly stitched up. Yet I always thought the rouble was worthless!!
