I hate when they do this…
The MSM has latched onto the most extraordinary and salacious claims in her testimony — the stuff about Trump lunging at his security detail and trying to grab the steering wheel of the presidential limo. That’s the claim getting all the airtime and has all the talking heads bobbling.
Trouble is that that bit was all second-hand — somebody told her that that happened. She never actually witnessed it. And, predictably, ABC and NYT are now reporting that the Secret Service — if called — will deny that it happened.
It gives Trump supporters a ledge to stand on. It won’t matter now if she actually saw him stab his valet with a butter knife. All they’ll talk about on Fox is how she ‘lied’ about the limo.
Bloody Trump has so much to answer for.
His blatant Conservative bias in Supreme Court appointments has now resulted in a restriction in the ability of the US Environmental Protection Agency to regulate warming emissions across state based power sectors rather than just individual power plants.
6-3. How convenient
.
The US will struggle to meet its climate targets at this rate
.
That is definately true but in addition to that, countless administrations and Congresses have done nothing to codify abortion rights into law. This is not restricted just to Roe, there have been many landmark cases where rulings have dramatically altered the fabric of American society and there has been no attempt to back it up with legislature.
Decisions that have massive ramifications for the country can be made and unmade by as little as five people on a margin of one and the Presidency or Congress of 550 seem to just dust their hands and say "I guess thats that"
The Supreme Court also overturned a ruling by The Louisiana State Supreme Court that struck down congressional redistricting on the grounds that it discriminated against African Americans, that's after it gutted the civil rights act years ago and next year it will look at giving more power to states over elections which would basically allow them to do what Trump wamted them to in 2020
Seems very difficult to see how The US will still be a Democracy in a few years
Here is a long and fascinating/horrific twitter thread (51 tweets) about the 2024 election and how an upcoming hearing in the supreme court will likely make what trump tried to do in 2020 completely legal i.e., disregard the popular vote and the state legislatures just decide who to give the state's electoral votes to. The case is Moore v Harper to be heard later this year and it will effectively end what passes for democracy in America when the fundamentalists on the court vote on it.

Makes me shudder and think what kind of ally America would be to us if that was to happen. Would America still come to our aid if we needed them, or would the 'special relationship' be a dead duck?
^^ They didn't give a fuck about us in WW2 until after Pearl Harbor was bombed...
That's true they didn't until Pearl Harbour But I wonder if they would do the same again...
actually that wasn't the case Roosevelt wanted to join earlier but was stopped by Neutrality acts that were laid down in the 30's basically they saw it as colonial powers bickering with each other and they didn't want to be dragged into another World War
took pearl harbor and also the Germans had been sinking a number of American ships during the early stages of battle of the Atlantic
