That I agree with but when he does shafts us a deal post Brexit we don't like we can tell him shove it back up his arse and tell him to drop the ban!!
If there has ever been s first rate asshole for US president then he is IT

how many more millions would have to sign it before they would sit up and take notice?
If he should visit it should not be as a state visit or the Queen should simply refuse to meet him

She can't mate, like it or lump it he is the president. Prince Charles can moan about him, but the Queen cannot voice personal views.

The only hope people have is his more extreme ideas and campaign talk will be reigned in.

You can't loose the best ally post brexit over moral issues regarding countries that are by and large hostile to the UK.

You can voice your disaproval, which she has done.

It's a very tricky balancing act the PM has to do, be with Trump without being tarnished by him, and Brexit hostile EU and remainers on the on the other hand; if she pulls all this off she will be the best PM this country has known - including Churchill.
She may not be able to back out of it, but she can meet him, then do one sharpish and leave somebody else to chat to him.
I actually think the government were out of line to roll out the red carpet, he ran a campaign of fear and hate, he has never been in politics, never done anything for anyone other than himself and is an egomaniac, they are feeding the troll. It should be a normal visit.

A big problem with the whole reigning him in thing, is that he has a extremely nasty racist as an adviser, who is apparently the one behind the green card debacle. People think it was to test how far they could push things.

When you're dealing with Trump, nothing is set in stone and he could flip his lid and back out of a deal at any moment, he's too thin skinned to be president and not remotely trustworthy when it comes to making deals.

There's no way May will be remembered alongside the likes of Churchill, that's just madness. lol.
surely the Queen has a right to refuse to meet him if she wished?
^ Doubtful, given that she's welcomed Xi Xinping, Robert Mugabe, Vladimir Putin and various Middle Eastern nut jobs in the past. She's a figurehead and would only refuse a request from HM Government in very extreme circumstances. We'd be in very interesting times if she ever did say no.
would have loved to be fly on the wall of her audience with the queen when she discussed it. having watched the crown on netflix would have been fun

maybe if the queen doesnt want to do it could get helen mirren to dress up as her Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue
Oh look, there's a petition to allow a state visit now

It's not a matter of him being Trump and whatever his beliefs he has, or whatever he ran his election campaign on, the world and his wife (including May) was quite clear what they thought about Trump (and still are), but he was elected and is the president and the new president at that, the government has to treat him accordingly (which just so happens to co incide with the transitionout of the EU, hence grinning at him like a silly school girl. You never know, might soften him up abit.

There's always been a problem with advisors, but he might (just might) be open to other influences, he might not, time will out.

If he does prove to be completely usles, the world knows they only have 4 years to put up with it. By which time hopefully most of Brexit will have been negotiated and trade deals arranged with the US and other countries - then he can be dumped.

If she pulls everything she has to and the UK does end up coming out of this smelling of roses, she will be one of the greatest PM'S this country has ever known. People forget Churchill was a magnificent war PM, but he was also an imperialist who opposed ghandi (and would have let him starve to death) and Indian indepence and was not re-elected after the war, ironically his position was more akin to trumps than it was to Mays. If some like Churcil tried to run for office now in this age of pc lunacy he would be treated the same as Trump.

He also wanted a united states of europe centred around a franco. germany partnership, with UK being of europe and not part of it, pretty much what Brexit hopes to achieve.
